living in a selenium deprived state, this supplement is great for helping the body absorb what selenium my horse does get, plus helps muscles for her PSSM.

Is this 1500 or 5000 mg ?
A shopper on Mar 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The conversion of IU into mg isn't exact, but for dl-alpha Tocopherol Acetate, it is nearly equal. So, one scoop of Health-E provides approximately 5500 mg of synthetic vitamin E. Health-E, no matter how they try to word the label information, is a synthetic form of vitamin E, which is not utilized as well by the body, and my pony is proof of that.

I had used Health-E to try and maintain my severely vitamin E deficient pony at optimum levels, but it did not work and her numbers slide back to dangerous levels. Without proper vitamin E levels she is in constant muscle pain and spends much of each day lying down. To bring her numbers up to normal levels, I have to use Elevate WS liquid (d-alpha Tocopherol Acetate, the natural form of vitamin E), which is the only vitamin E supplement my vet recommends. It is quite expensive, but is quickly utilized. I have found that UltraCruz Equine Natural Vitamin E powder (d-alpha Tocopherol Acetate) has been able to keep her levels near normal and is much more cost effective. I still have to give her a round of the Elevate WS to boost her levels twice a year.
for areas very low in selemnium is there a Health E with selenium?
David S on Jan 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We feed this due to a shortage of selenium here in our area as well as to supplement a mare that's recovering from EPM. This particular supplement contains a higher dose of the vitamin E that is vital to her recovery. We love it, it's accepted readily on the feed and have seen obvious results with it's daily use.
