Best hay feeder yet
I have had 2 of these prior and when they finally wore out after many years of use. I instantly order 2 more to replace them. easy to assemble. Very easy to use. Keeps hay loss to a minimum.

"Okay" slow feeder, if you're on a low budget.
I am not going to rate this product very high because I have two other slow feeders that are, in my opinion, 99-100% better. But if you are on a low budget, I guess these work fine. My biggest complaint with them is that SO MUCH hay ends up on the ground. The second complaint is that I have to try to find some place suitable to hang them from. So I will be sticking with my other two brands of slow feeders. They my cost a bit more, but in the long run they are well worth the money, as no hay is ever in contact with the ground, and they sit on the ground where ever I want to place them.

Awesome Product!
These hay feeders are fantastic and easy to use. They keep the hay from being spread all over the stall or ground, and they give the horses something to do while eating. The container is easily detached to take to the feed room, packed with hay, and then carried back to the stall without hay pieces falling all over the ground. I will always use these feeders for every stall and horse.

Great Investment
I have owned 3 of these for 5 yrs now. I use them to feed while having my horses on the picket line at weekend trail rides. Minimal hay waste and no chance of them getting caught in them like I have seen with hay nets. These boxes are so much easier to fill than a hay net or bag. I also hang them in stalls for horses that tend to throw their hay around in the stall. I would never go back to a hay net or bag after owning these.

These feeders are so easy to use.
I use these feeders for my Llama, Sheep and Goats. All of the animals favor these over their hay racks. I just have to keep them up high enough that the babies can't get their heads in them, but other than that they are wonderful!!

Great hay saver and entertainer
My horses love these! I have been feeding outside hanging from different trees in pasture to move around supply. They love clanking them around. There is very very little hay waste. I even tried filling these and putting hay on ground to see if they would still use slow feeder. They pushed the ground hay around and then went right back to the feeders - proving there must be some entertainment value for them! The only reason I didn't give excellent is the hinges bent very early into use. I was able to repair with zip-ties and they work great.

It's a great product
I have been using this in my studs stall since the fall. He swingsit around all night long eating his hay from both sides.Ther aluminum clip broke a couple weeks ago. I went and gota heavy duty metal one. Back in business. It holds a foot of hay. I like best being able to see how much hay was eaten. There are 2 in my horse trailer. I have 2 friends that saw mine and got one for their horses.

love these
I use these along the fence outside. They keep the hay off the ground, slow down hay consumption, but aren't as frustrating to the horses as a small hole hay net is. More durable than the hay nets. I'm replacing a couple that have finally broken after 3 or 4 seasons

We ordered one when they were on backorder, didn't take long to receive it and our horses use it out in pasture constantly during the cold days. Now ordering another for the top pasture. Great product!

are they hard to load? When they swing around doesn't it make it hard for the horse to eat?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is a little work to load. It worked OK. My horse used to toss it around & pin it against the wall to be able to get to the hay faster. He also figured out how to get it open. I used a clip to close it & he worked it til he bent the clip to get it open. He pulled it down & his foot fit through the holes so I don't use t anymore. I went to hay nets with small holes which does work well.
Is the green one made of different lighter plastic?
Millie on Aug 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are both the same plastic, just different colors.
Why are the green ones cheaper?
A shopper on Jul 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are on sale at this time.
Would this work with chopped hay?
Lynn S on Aug 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If it were packed in tight, it might be OK. The openings are large so once they started eating, more would fall out than if it were not chopped. You would want to feed with a stock tank underneath to keep it off the ground.
do they come in
different sizes?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think it's all one size ... I've had mine for a year and a half now and love it.... I can squeeze 3 flakes into it.
Can a horse fit a hoof through the holes?
A shopper on Aug 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In my experience a horse can and has done a lot of unusual things. I have had the blue hay feeders for at least 3 years and the green hay feeders just this last spring. I have a total of 5. I like the blue ones better, they are made of harder plastic than the green ones. One green one is in my yearling stall. So, her foot could definitely fit in one of the holes. It is placed an inch above the ground and against the wall. If she would get her hoof thru a hole she would destroy the feeder but she would be physically all right. I have had one in my stallions stall for 3 years and it hangs the same way, he has never put t hoof thru. I use 3 in the barn and I love them. 2 in my horse trailer. The horse seem to really like them as well.
what are they made of and would they scratch the horse trailer?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's a rigid plastic, no sharp edges but I can imagine it might produce some light superficial "scratches". Like you get from driving past small leafy bushes...
