Love this.
This makes a huge difference for my back. Does not take long for them to get used to it.

OK if you have only a horse or two
...and the horses are not too short . This one is too high on the lowest pin hole to use with my arab/quarter horse mix so I have to let it all the way down without pinning it.

Magnets came out pretty quickly but I glued them back and so far they are holding.

You generally get what you pay for and this jack was pretty inexpensive. Since I am generally using it mostly for quick weekly filings, it still works for me.

They just raised the prices $25 or more!
Those who said it was a great price, bought before a HUGE price increase. I think better to build your own.

Packaged poorly missing hardware - Stand too Tall
The package was a box that was taped on all sides. Two of the sides were coming apart. I was missing one of the nuts that attach the base to the stand. Of course, not a standard size. The stand does not have drilled holes to use at its lowest position, where it would bottom out.. The lowest setting to use the given holes to pin the stand in position is about 3-inches higher than letting the insert sit all the way to the bottom of the sleeve. This is the height I need for use. I have a horse about 15-hands - 16-hands tall and need to place the stand all the way down. I ended up drilling my own holes to place the keeper pin. This product is a lot cheaper than the others and is usable. Not sure how long it will last, just bought it. It seems that the rubber pads on the tops of the stand may not last long, but we will see.

Terrible products, cheesy shipping packages
We ordered this stand as we trim our horses and a few others. The horse.com website is confusing and the product arrived damaged. The cradle does no even stay stable among other issues. I called TABLLC.com and did get a great customer service person-Alyssa. They sent out a replacement at no charge to us and a return shipping label. The second same farrier stand arrived in worse shape-bolts missing. Emailed Alyssa again, she was very prompt, They are replacing it with a better stand, we're waiting for it to arrive at no charge to us and another shipping label for the second one to go back. They also sent a gift card, I was ready to leave this company and tell all my followers to do so as well. Alyssa won me back. I will never use a high country product again and I hope Horse.com does not either.

Better than Expected
I ordered this stand as a surprise for my wife. She's the one who tends to our horses hoofs, due to my back condition. In the past, she has come up with some really off the wall things to assist in trimming the hoofs. When this stand came in, she was very happy! As she was putting it together, noticed that it was ALL metal. The title above the item on the web site is somewhat misleading. Said plastic. I checked my order to see if I had received a different product, but came to find that I received what I ordered. The stand is fairly well built and very sturdy. The wife has used it a couple of times. We are happy with the product and I was very happy with the price. Bought when I had a good discount coupon.

Not worth spending the money on
Very cheaply made. For the price, I didn't expect much and anticipated a low end product. Because of this, I took care to handle gently and care for it. However, I didn't even get a single foot trimmed before things started going wrong. The magnets fell out of their holders, the pin lock was jammed in the pin upon arrival, the top of the leg stand pulled off when I went to pick up the stand to move it. The list goes on. I wish I had saved my money and bought a better one at a later date.

Just what I needed...
Nicely made stand - great quality for the price. I have only used it a couple of times (so don't know about durability) & will only use it periodically to maintain hooves between farrier trims in the winter. I took note of another reviewer's suggestion about taking the pin out & letting it drop completely down as it does sit quite high (even on the lowest pin setting). By doing so, it was a good height for my 15-3 hand horses, one of which is a senior, so it is uncomfortable for her to hold her legs up higher. Just taking out the pin does the trick nicely.

Works well
Sturdy, not too heavy. Top of arched foot rest pops off so stand cannot be lifted from top when this extension is on, inconvenient but when top is removed it can double as the post insert so - kinda saves trouble too. Just depends on what you want. (under the arched piece is a square rubber attached to top of post). The stand doesn't go low enough in my opinion, and too high. If my horse is cozy, he wont fight. Jacking his foot up by his ears will not make him cozy at all. Which makes the job harder. He's 15.2hh so no pony, but i ended up taking out the pin. Works for him, i don't think it'd work super well on horses shorter than 15hh or so. Looks like it could accommodate 25hh though :P

wish I'd bought it sooner and saved my back
My one difficult to trim horse seemed to relax more when I used the stand. That alone made it well worth it. Seems to do the job without the strain, and is easy to maneuver. Priced lower than other stands I've seen and seems solid enough.

What is this stand made out of?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The entire construction is a sturdy metal. There are hard rubber cushions to cradle the pastern or rest the hoof on. I would recommend this product
How would someone just purchase the hoof cradle ?
Woddy on Aug 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If the cradle is available separately you would probably be able to purchase it directly from High Country: http://www.highcountryplastics.com/
I've left my hoof cradle at one my customers and I guess it's gone how would one buy just the hoof cradle?
Woddy on Aug 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Bought this for our grandson who just has one horse but if you doing this as a business with multiple horses I would get the Hoofjack. That is well worth the money. That is what my husband uses. Lasts for years.
I am in Australia and wish to purchase a High country shoeing stand could you explain the process and price in Australian dollars thanks Garry Traditional Farrier Services?
