Product Summary:

Himalayan Salt on a Rope

Give your horse a little treat with Himalayan salt for horses. Known as “white gold” in many parts of the world, Himalayan rock salt is the purest form of salt available on earth.
Mined from ancient deposits deep in the Himalayas, these rock hard salt licks contain many of the valuable minerals your horse needs to promote a healthy balance in the body. Himalayan salt encourages your horses to drink, which can aid in the prevention of any digestion problems.
Himalayan salt licks are resistant to rain and biting, so they will last longer!

  • Iron, potassium, and magnesium, which are particularly useful in replenishing electrolytes lost during hard work
  • Literally 'rock hard' so horses are unable to bite chunks off—a problem that can occur with softer 'pressed' salt licks

can't live without these
horses devour these and love playing with them. Can't keep enough in the barn. My only complaint is that they're not large enough as I'm constantly replacing them

Horses show no interest
Neither my mare nor gelding show a "lick" of interest in this item. After a couple of weeks of leaving it hang in the run-in shelter, I decided to slather it in pancake syrup. They licked off the syrup and the salt has been hanging untouched ever since. I like the write-up on the item but won't have a need to buy again.

My horses LOVE this!
My horses have fallen in love with this and the moment its gone I know I need another because they are looking for it. You can tie it up to anything in or around their pen and now worry about it being in the dirt or anything.

Excellent price & product!
I buy these in bulk because of the price and I make sure to take advantage of the FREE SHIPPING they offer from time to time. Our horses accept these over any other types of salt and in a hot summer that's vital to good health!

Easy to use in stall great for young horses
MARY BETH D on Jun 22, 2015
Have used these for a couple of years now, some horses like to amuse themselves with the hanging block and seem to love the taste, and I know they are getting a great product. I only use ground Himalayan salt on my own food ( bought specifically for humans of course).

We travel a lot with our horses. I like the rope - it is a convenient way to provide free choice salt away from home. Home is where you hang your salt!
GINA W on Mar 23, 2015
The benefits of a little bit of salt are immeasurable.
JOY J on Feb 12, 2015
These salt licks hold up very well and my horses love them. They spend a good deal of time licking them but they can't bite chunks of them like some of the other formed blocks. These also hold up to the weather much better; they don't degrade in the rain/snow.
Ashley K on Feb 2, 2015
I have a 50-lb mineral block in the pasture, but this small salt-on-a-rope is handy to hang in the barn when I have to stall my horses in severe weather; and it gives them something to play with while confined.

Horses need salt and they seem to eat this salt a whole lot better than the plain white blocks we have in the pasture.

does it melt in rain?
A shopper on Mar 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Ours didn't, but then again, we live in the desert so we don't get much rain. We do get snow and snow melt and it doesn't seem to affect it much. The horses love it for licking and playing.
Could a horse bit through the rope?
A shopper on Apr 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They "could" but it would take a lot of chewing. The ropes that came on the four I ordered where very stiff and had a bit of copper wire woven into them. I have used these for four very "everything" thats not nailed down must be a toy geldings. One of which is a 18hh, 2000lb draft who chews on everything...the rope has never been chewed on or through and holds up very well even after they have eaten the salt off them...ive used the rope bits to hang other toys!
Does this provide any nutrients?
bob r on Dec 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It provides sodium and chloride. Most horses require 1-2 ounces per day, more in hot weather and when they are expending more energy.
How do you hang the 2.2# salt with the PVC tubular holder that came in the box?
D G on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I didn't receive a holder. I just tie the rope around one of the bars that separate my stalls. I really don't even see the need for any kind of holder. You could always just place it in your feeder as well.
is there freight on this?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can't remember the specifics of this transactions but I can tell you that I typically wait until horse, com offers their free shipping sale/offer. Great deal! On heavier items I sometimes need to pay a small 'over-weight' shipping fee. I have found that it even with this small fee it is usually better price then I can get elsewhere. I hope that helps.
