Sizing is awful
Used the chart. It clearly stated that a size small would fit a hoof that was 5" x 5". Got the boots, and they are 5" x 5" on the OUTSIDE. Can't possibly fit a hoof that size, because they are thick, heavy boots. Couldn't get them on of course, so I can't attest to how good they are. Disappointed that Horse.com won't help me with return shipping EVEN THOUGH THEIR CHART IS WRONG.

Great hoof boots!
These are easy to put on and actually STAY on. They are also light weight so your horse doesn't think he has to pick his feet way up. Good protection for stone bruises. I don't leave them on all the time - just when I ride. We have drought conditions and the ground is very hard and there are plenty of stones here in N.M. These boots are excellent protection.

Awful product can not tighten them tight enough to stay on my horse's hoof would send them back but as another customer said they're just not worth the effort . If you have to stand there and continually vet wrap your horse's Hoof in order to make the boot have stay on what is the point in putting the boot on already protected the hoof. should have come up with a much better design on how to tighten them snaps anything is better than what you put on them

Good alternative for the price.
I decided to try these boots. Only use them once in a while on my small AQHA mare. All I can really complain about is the nylon strip that you have to pull to tighten through a small plastic clip could be a little longer. Having about an inch or two, that has to pull through that thick rubber to tighten, is extremely difficult!! Come on guys ... make it about 5 inches longer so you have something to grip when trying to tighten on the hoof!!

One thing after another
I gave these boots many chances, and every time i got burned. After less than a week, i knew these simply would not work. The rubber is taller than the coronary band and rubbed it raw. Despite being too narrow in the back, they still fell off. When that happened on his good foot his bad foot had extra height from the boot that didnt fall off which put him in a lot of pain. As for why i bought them, they did not provide almost any added comfort. Not long after these disaster boots, i borrowed some high end boots from a friend.... What a difference! Guess i'll have to break down and get some real ones. This experiment was a failure... On to success!

Good product
This is a great product if your horse typically doesn't wear shoes, but needs relief from hard ground for practice or tail rides. They work perfect from what I need them for, and my horse truly enjoys them. They do tend to slip off on occasion, so I wouldn't recommend use in a show pen. If you have a horse with a long stride, I would recommend bell boots as well. For the buckle is plastic and could easily be broken.

changed the design and materials
Who ever "thought" to put a plastic luggage type of buckle and pulley system on a HOOF boot didn't have a clue! Really, plastic on a hoof boot???? That will last about 5 minutes off the lead line, and a pulley system rather than a lock and fasten is just begging for a wreck! The buckle doesn't adjust to slip thru and its too tight for the bindings. The bindings are too thick to be comfortable on the horse. They do NOT fit over the bulbs of the hoof like they should, but slouch below them. You can't adjust that because the slits on the sides where they thread thru are too low.I'm VERY unhappy with them and would send them back, but they aren't worth the price of the shipping. Save your money and go with something else. In the dumper they go.

Well after I read few reviews I was not sure if this was the way to go, and that maybe I should wait and buy the more expensive ones, but I got them anyway, figuring I could always return them. We'll there is no way I am sending these back! I did what it recommended for proper fit and they do fit! My horse has very sensitive hooves when we are on the trails, and putting steel shoes on their feet is not an option I am willing to do, these boots are amazing, and I had no problems putting on or taking off, and I can also treat their feet when and if the time comes for treatment like an abscess . Thank you so much for making affordable boot and like I said, I am not returning these! These are awesome! And of course I am very happy that they were delivered on time.

The jury is still out on these
I was a little hesitant to order based on the mixed reviews about sizing. I ordered the medium for my foundation quarter horse's front feet after measuring her freshly trimmed hooves. They fit perfectly but...they only stayed on for less than 24 hours! The strap fasteners are really difficult to tighten adequately. I haven't put them back on yet and am debating about returning them or trying modify the fastener to make it easier to adjust the strap. They seem sturdy and durable so far. I got them to protect a hoof that has a hole on the edge of the sole. My farrier told me to have her wear them on both front hooves to protect against a hoof imbalance. Luckily they come in pairs for less than the price of one Davis barrier boot. Not sure how they would hold up being ridden in.

Would this boot work for a barefoot horse on trail rides? The terrain is kind of rocky.
A shopper on Aug 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: These boots are not recommended for rides of any duration. They are made to protect the hoof while holding in medication and conditioning oils, or use as an emergency shoe replacement.
If you need hoof boots for rugged terrain, you may wish to consider the EasyCare Easyboot New Trail Hoof Boot (item E015321) or the Cavallo Trek Regular Sole Hoof Boot (item E011136).
I have a 11 hh pony, measured 4 by 4 just over 4 length but pretty close, would small fit or do I need to go with xsmall?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would go with a small to be on the safe side. These boots dont have to be tight on the hoof, so if there is a little room that should be okay.
How should i measure my horses hooves for this boot? From the tip of toe to - heel bulbs?? Back of the weight bearing area? Also are the dimensions listed that of the interior or exterior of the boot?
A shopper on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The easiest way is to stand the horse on a paper or cardboard and draw an outline of the hoof. Measurement is taken for the entire weight-bearing area, and the dimensions listed are for the boot's exterior.
Would this work for my Shetland pony she's a therapy horse?
A shopper on Jan 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think they probably would be good for your pony, you have to see if they carry that small of size. And if you use the pony in a soft area. I don't think that these would hold up in a stony area, for very long but in a soft arena or grassy area they would be good. Good Luck, and Thank you for you work.
Do these come as a single or a pair?
Barbara H on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They came has pair. I will add that they worked great for my horse; I'm not sure what you're going to use them for, I put them on a horse that had an abscess and turned him out to pasture. I cleaned them each day and tape them on with duct tape, I didn't want him losing one.

My horse is kinda of crazy when we turn him out and has ripped his shoe out of his hoove would these protect him from doing that again?
A shopper on Sep 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes possibly if u get the correct size . Sorry for the slow response. I don't read my emails that often.. They're a little hard to tighten. I used mine for soaking my geldings feet. But I have a friend that uses them when she's not showing but I'm not sure if they're the same or not. I can find out of u still need me too.. Again sorry for the slow reply
