much better than dealing with liquid
The pellets are much better than dealing with the liquid. I got this hoping it would give my 20 year old gilding some energy. Only been giving it 3 weeks but I can see an improvement.

This is a great product to help keep horses in tip top condition. And they like it.. It only takes a small amount. I like the granules much better then the liquid.

Great benefit for older horses
Vet suggested to start my then 28 yr old on red cell wow what a difference his top line filled out, coat shine, energy level increase. He was already on several other supplements as a senior horse. I then decided to feed my then other senior he was 25 then same response! Oldest is now 30 just recently stopped ridding due to old back injury but still chases the other now 28 yr old around and I do still ride the now 28 yr old. Folks are amazed at the condition they are in

This is a must have for any class of horse! I have two hard keepers, one who will have seizures. On Red Cell there are no seizures and their weight is always at a great place! I stopped Red Cell for about a month and my horses were loosing weight, their coats were not near as shiny, and their energy levels were low. I will NEVER stop feeding this supplement again even if I have to one-day ship it!!

Great way to help iron deficient horses
We used the liquid red cell for years with our mare to treat her anemia. She loved it and it did great for her but it is messy. We recently changed over to red cell pellets. Our mare likes them as much as she did the liquid and it is so much easier and less messy for us to handle.

Works wonders
I have 2 old horses that tend to get anemic, one has liver issues, the other has possible kidney issues. The one with kidney issues blew up like a baloon, got the vet out, she checked him over, did blood work, said he was very anemic and to start him on an iron supliment, I ran out and bought some Red Cell pellets and started him on them, with some light excercise to improve circulation and the red cell he got back to normal within about 2 weeks. I can tell a difference in his attitude and energy within days if I run out. All of my horses will eat it out of my hand and love it, I tried all 7 to check palitability since 1 scoop woudn't hurt any of them.

Can't say enough good things about this product
My vet recommended Red Cell when a couple of (previously) easy-keeping horses lost weight over winter and I wasn't able to put it back on. We had recently relocated to a new area and had been making feed/hay adjustments in the new locale, but increasing their rations of high quality feed, timothy and alfalfa wasn't getting it done. One of our thoroughbreds and a paint mare had become gaunt and "dull." All of the horses lacked energy, as well, so I added it to all of their feed. Ordered the red cell and was amazed with its quick results. Within weeks, they were filling out, their coats gleamed (I upped their flax meal as well, per vet) and they were galloping around the pasture. Used only a half ounce daily per horse, as they weren't being worked much, and may discontinue over the summer if the lush grass keeps them fit, but Red Cell will definitely be my go-to the rest of the year.

I feed it to an 28-year-old mare and she is doing very well on it.

The anti-acids I give my horses for their gastric ulcers could possibly cause them to become anemic. I have always liked red cell for over 30 years and used it on my horses without the ulcers. A very good product.

Should iron levels be checked before starting this supplement?
A shopper on Jul 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes !!! Most horses do not need this
Is this safe to give a pregnant mare?
CiCi83 on Jun 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't know as my horses are old and I feel they can use the extra help. A pregnant mare on a good feed and hay or grass diet shouldn't need Red Cell, but that is just my opinion. The label should say if it is not safe for pregnancies but I'd check with your vet to be sure.
Can red cell be fed to sheep?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have to recommend that you check with your veterinarian. Iron is a supplement that is possible to over-feed, and this product is only formulated for horses.
