Awesome for stall chewers or mouthy horses!!
I bought this on a whim for my VERY MOUTHY 2 year old gelding. It's super simple to mount. A second pair of hands would be helpful, but I had no problems mounting it by myself. My horse took to it INSTANTLY and absolutely loves it.I don't think this is a general toy for all horses like jolly balls are. If you have a horse that loves to explore with his mouth, &/or is a stall chewer they'll love this addition. As a treat try pouring molasses or wheat germ/corn/any omega fatty acid oil over the rubber wheels to get them started if they don't "get it".My boy loves it and that's good enough for me!

Can still crib on it!
I bought this for my horse that cribs. The box says it gaurentees to stop cribbing and my filly was cribbing on in within 10 minutes. I gave it to my other horse, and she licked it once and ignored it.

Helpful for my cribbing horse
We have a horse that cribs. He used to do it on the wood fence or any surface he could find. We do not believe in cribbing collars or other methods of preventing cribbing. All the newest research points to cribbing as a way to relieve pain, usually from ulcers. Most researchers say it is more harmful to prevent the cribbing than to let them continue. Anyway, I thought this toy would be great for him. We bought it and put it up in his run in shed and he ignored it. A YEAR later he suddenly discovered it and has used it ever since. He never cribs on any other surface anymore. He has worn it out so we are getting him a new one.

Nothing
My horse didnt care, or notice it at all. I put molasses on it, which he licked off, but never touched the thing again.

Can this be used without mounting it to the stall wall? I have a mouthy OTTB who is wearing out my lead ropes during anxiety moments. We need a better distraction.
Karly on Apr 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Works great in a stall but I don't think it would work well on a rope. For one thing it would be too heavy. Maybe some no-chew on the lead rope would be a better option, and just give him one he's already ruined for a distraction.

I have 8 horses and only one uses it, but he's nervous and the only one that needs it.
Can I mount this on a flat wall instead of a corner?

BEST ANSWER: The item is not able to be mounted to a flat surface.
