Product Summary:

HorseTech® Buggzo!®

Horse Tech® took their clients' requests for a pelleted source of garlic and vinegar. After noticing some of the products in this category were unappealing, they went ahead and made one for you. They named this product Buggzo!®, a convenient and delicious alternative to help keep bugs away!

Features:

  • Easy-to-use pelleted product
  • Combined two types of garlic and a unique dry, pH buffered apple cider vinegar, thiamine, diatomaceous earth, brewer’s yeast, B-complex vitamins and grape seed extract

Recommended Use:

Initial Introduction: Provide to mature horses weighing 1,000 lb. at the rate of 1 oz. to 2 oz. daily. Reduce daily servings proportionately, based on weight, for lighter breeds and ponies. Continue for a period of 2-4 weeks.

Maintenance: The standard maintenance dose for a 1,100 lb. horse is a 1 oz. serving. Larger breeds or a heavy insect population may require the use of an increased maintenance dose of up to 2 oz. per day. Provide 1/2 oz. to 1 oz. daily for ponies, smaller breeds, or where insect populations allow for lower usage rates.

The 48cc scoop that is enclosed in your product package will hold approximately one ounce by weight when slightly rounded. One slightly rounded 48cc scoop equals approximately one ounce.

Horses like the taste and it helps keep flying pests off of my horses.
Buggzo is palatable when mixed in the daily feed. It has helped keep pesky flying insects off of my horses in the summer. I have used this product for four years.

Buggzo saved my little black pony
My pony used to itch himself until he had open sores from the bug bites. Fly spray just wasn't helping. I started using Buggzo 3 summers ago. I love this product so much and recommend it to everyone. His coat and face are so much better. I used to hate people seeing him with all those open sores on his face, chest and legs. I am so happy for his product.

Appears to work
I have a major insect problem since I live in the middle of an orchard covered in mulch. As a result of this I employ a number of products to control insects. Products include fly spray overhead and on the animals themselves. In addition I have used Buggzo for several years. While I can't say for sure exactly how much the Buggzo helps I wouldn't continue feeding it if I wasn't convinced that it helps and it, combined with the other measures is effective.

I've used garlic for my horses since 1977 for bug control. The products I've used over the years have been powder where Buggzo is a pellet and the horses love it! One of our horses is thin skinned so the bugs really go after her. This last summer we started using Buggzo and it seems to work better than any other product I've used. Thank you Horse Tech

I am on my second bucket of Buggzo and am very pleased with the results. I was worried my horses wouldn't eat it but they have no problem at all with it. I've noticed a significant decrease in the amount of flies on them. One of my horses used to have a cluster of flies down the middle of her back - no more - none! It works!!

helps with bugs
My all black horse, that I have owned for 6 years, usually looks like a leopard appaloosa by this time in the summer, as a result of rubbing his itchy bug bites. I have tried various fly sprays, garlic and antihistamines to ease his discomfort. I started him on Buggzo about 3 weeks ago and he only has a few areas under his neck that he has rubbed excessively. I notice very few bugs on him now and he spends most of his day in a field with fairly long grass. I feel Buggzo has been a useful additive in my armamentarium of fly control for my horse.

Noticable difference
There is no "end all" in fly control but this product adds to the comfort of our pregnant mares (only one noting safe for same, or we'd use something thats reasonably priced). Its a noticable difference when combined with key area wipe-on. Can feed alone speaks to palatability. The 40 lbs should come in same plastic pail as smaller sizes when purchased from any vendor. Some have pail while this site ships in paper sack inside cardboard box (inconvenient to repackage once received to keep mice out).

This is the first bug product that actually makes a difference.
I jxst bought my second bucket. My picky eater eats it right up. I mix it with her feed at night. So far so good.

We have so many flies and mosquitoes that my horses are miserable all summer. This seemed to help last year even though I got a late start in feeding it. Anything that can possibly give the horses some relief is very welcome. I didn't use as much fly spray last year after I started feeding this product.

All natural!
Tracy C on Jun 15, 2014
I have been using Buggzo for 3 or 4 summers. I really feel it helps with biting flies and ticks. One of my horses would get severe welts from biting flies, now we hardly have any all summer. I also use cider vinegar in their water, so the ingredients in Buggzo also help with stable odors. I like it, the horses like, makes everyone happy.

We distribute fly predators in the summer. Will the diatomaceous earth in the Buggzo affect our fly predators adversely?
A shopper on Mar 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have done the fly predators for years in conjunction with a neighboring ranch. When the neighbors sold and the new owners didn't continue we saw an up rise so thought we would add buggzo. Your question is one that we never thought of, but it seemed to work. We were very happy with the way the season went. Want to know 100% ask your vet?
Can I use this for my dogs?
A shopper on Sep 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I do just that I only use 1/4 scoop
I checked with my vet
Too
Much garlic etc will give them indigestion etc
I would ask you vet first like I did as they know your dog better physically it's natural
It saves on repellent but I still use heart guard etc for heart worm ticks eyc
Never allow any vet to give any animal a Lyme disease vaccine ever!
It can make them a cripple and have to be put down
I lived in pa and saw this too many times
It's true and awful no matter what they tell you don't ever believe it
It's not safe
We both have end stage Lyme ourself
Horrible way to live
Can this be used in goats or llamas? Used to use Hop Off, a similar product no longer available, and it worked great so this looked like a great alternative.
Llamalady on May 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This product is amazing. I've used other products with garlic and they didn't work nearly as well as Buggzo. I live between two large areas of water so mosquitoes are really bad and flys are a real problem but with the Buggzo the flys and mosquitos don't seem to bother my horses. The other thing I found is that my horses love the taste of the Buggzo as well. As far as using it on the llamas and goats that should not be a problem.
Is this product effective as a gnat repellent?
A shopper on Mar 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I live in the PNW. I had trouble with bugs near his sheath, they would stick to him and were sucking blood but weren't mosquitoes. Tried this and my horse has never had trouble with any bugs/gnats/flies again. I only use it in the summer.
Would it hurt to add extra Diatomaceous earth to horses feed if I am feeding Buggzo?
Penny on Apr 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would personally recommend adding an additional small bucket Wendals Herbs Garlic Granules. We have been using Buggzo for several years and Wendals with great success. We give each horse the recommended scoop of Buggzo and Garlic Granules twice every day. The amount of diatomaceous earth contained in the Buggzo is perfect to ensure no fly larvae hatch in the manure, while the extra garlic makes our horses "unappetizing" to any mosquitoes or other biting critters, and is very good for their health. I hope this helps :-)
Can buggzo be used on donkeys?
A shopper on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. My horse is insulin resistant, and I've learned that there is a similar diet consideration for donkeys as well. Ask your vet if you're still uncertain. I've found this supplement to be very effective. I've tried 'reverse engineering' the basic ingredients, but have not done it as cost and result effectively as what we've experienced with Bugzoo. I'd recommend it for people too, if it was USDA/FDA approved.
