Product Summary:

K&H Thermo-Hose™

This clever heated water hose provides water during the colder months of the year. The Thermo-Hose makes access to water easy and convenient. It's ideal for use in cold weather; the heater automatically shuts off when the weather gets warmer. Simply plug in 20 minutes before intended use.

Note: DO NOT use crank style hose reel. Hose DOES NOT heat water, only keeps it from freezing. The hoses use 100 watts for the 20-foot, 200 watts for the 40-foot, and 250 watts for the 60-foot. Always disconnect from water source when not in use. Store on hook, coiled up on the ground, or laying flat.

Heater element fails
After leaving the heating element plugged in overnight it burned out and would no longer heat. We sent it back to manufacturer under warranty (though shipping cost us almost as much as just buying a new hose) and they did send a replacement. This new one we only plugged in for short period before using the hose to thaw it out, then unplugged it after use. Unfortunately it only worked a couple of times before it no longer heated up. Very poor design and quality with minimal to no support from manufacturer

Great Hose
I purchased this hose and then I purchased the same hose that was PVC not rubber. DO NOT buy the PVC hose. It is so stiff. This hose is perfect.

FAILED after one year of use. I used a 20 foot version for my motorhome in Maine. It worked well last year. I wrapped it in insulation (absolutely necessary below 15 degree f) and it did work all last winter. This year I plugged it in the first time and NOTHING. For no apparent reason the heater element simply stopped working. The hose was not traumatized in any way. Very disappointed. After reading all the other reviews I'd have to conclude that this product is a prime example of PLANNED OBSOLECENCE.

Good Product
Works well but does get kinked at times and needs better washers. Stays warm and usable at 10 below. I like the convienance of it of not having to drag hoses around into heated areas and rolling up.

I had looked around for a hose like this. I found a similar hose at Rural King online however they had a minimum purchase of 3.We have had weather down to 5'F already and it has performed superbly!

We bought 3 of these hoses. Two out of three leak. Have contacted the company but yet to hear from them. Would not buy from this company again.

Hasn't been colder than -15 but it's worked great. No more thawing hoses! I will buy more.

Leaks like a siv
After a handful of uses, the hone leaks like a siv at the plastic piece where the heating element is. I tried emailing the company of this product and have yet to hear back.. not happy at all.

Love my heated hose
Depending on how well you drain your hose - this works perfect to un-thaw what was frozen inside while you do chores so it's ready to fill buckets when you're finished. It was a bit pricey but I thankfully was able to snag it during a big sale and glad I did!

is this hose ok for drinking water of humans ?
charley556 on Oct 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I do not recall any information on the label regarding the safety of the hose material for drinking water. Normally, there is a rating on other types of piping called an NSF value. With that said, I do not believe there is an issue with using for potable water. I have no proof that this is the case however.
Can these be coupled for longer than 100' length?
Jeff B on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought one last year for use in Michigan. I would not couple them. The heating element apparently stops a few inches before the coupling hardware and the extreme ends of my hose freeze below 20 degrees unless drain the ends of the hose after use. I'd be afraid of an ice plug forming at the coupling if two hoses are joined.
How or can this product work if the water in the pipes freeze? Not sure how everyone can enjoy water if you are supposed to unplug from the water source and the water source freezes? Tires of lugging water from the house!!!
Michelle K on Jan 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This product works best on a hydrant that is properly installed and with source pipes that don't freeze. Most freeze proof hydrants will freeze if they have a hose left hooked up to them, so to prevent that issue this hose should be detached from the hydrant; however I keep the electrical part of this hooked up to keep the hose from having water frozen in it. The heater is only designed to keep the water in the hose from freezing and not designed to effect water sources or water once in the tank. This product has kept me from having to lug water from a hydrant to a tank and I am very happy with the results.

would this hose supply hot water ? Like for bathing a horse ?
Kathy L on Oct 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I never used it for that. It use to keep the water from freezing going to my troughs and it worked great along with my water heaters. The water does not get hot, I think it keeps it at a certain temperature. The water in the troughs was always warmer and drinkable when it was very cold outside.
Do you need to drain water from hose after each use?
Vicki C on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I always roll mine up after each use and ALWAYS unhook from faucet and never leave anything on the other end so water can drain out. You don't have to actually drain it but there is no heater in the ends so that's where you'll run into trouble. Mine is going on 3 years now and I love it! I keep it plugged in all winter and it shuts itself off when it's warm.
Does water in hose need to be drained after each use?
Vicki C on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. At least where we live. Nights down to 0 and below.
