Good quality but runs big
Product is well made and exactly as advertised but way too big for my yearling Morgan. I'll use it on him next year as a 2-year-old. I wish it had a forelock hole but I bought it knowing it didn't so I can't fault it for that.

"Yearling" means warmblood yearling
This mask in "yearling" size is way too big for my Morgan yearling. It would fit a warmblood or draft yearling. It seems good quality so I'll hang on to it for when he's bigger but we won't be able to use it this summer.

design change not good
I have older Kensington fly masks that work great...however the black and brown masks seem to blind the horses. Horses are not happy wearing them...spooky. I noticed different placement for the seams that create a line right now the middle of the eye which I think is the problem...Have older blue masks that seem to work better. Purchased three of the black/brown - look good but can't use them.

Great quality , just large
I have a large TB mare , she seems to always rub her fly masks off , she is often able to pull this one off . It's very large . But the quality is excellent , hasn't torn yet .

Best fly mask I've purchased.
This is the second mask like this that I have purchased. I bought it so I could bring his other one home to wash and not have to leave him without his mask. This model is extremely durable, even when his neighbor is successful in removing it. His first Kensington mask is going on three years old and still as good as new.

I expected better,
I purchase these thinking since they use the same material as in lawn furniture that it would be very durable. Wrong. The temperature was only 84 the day I put it on my horses and when I took them off, both of the horses faces had sweat lines and wet under the fleece. Needless to say, since it was so hot on my horses they must have tried to get them off because both of the masks were ripped. Proving that they are not more durable than the much cheaper brands. My recommendation is to buy another product. I stopped putting it on the horses since they both were determined to get them off and I have used the same fly masks all summer in the past and they didn't ever try to get them off.

This product is high quality
Love how the fabric is so durable. My horse likes to play with the other horses in the pasture. All other brands are not DUKE PROOF. Kensington seems to sustain the playfulness of my horse.

Looks and fits great
Priced higher than some others, but it is worth it. The quality is great, it fits how it should, and it matches perfectly with the Kensington fly sheet. Large assortment of colors are also a plus.

Great fly mask!
I've bought three of these and love them! They fit great and stay on with no shifting. They really help keep the flys off my boys.

I have one without the ears and it is lasting FOREVER and no sores!

Mare needs ear protection and I like the pattern in the mask. Also, the mask doesn't fall down her nose where the protection is not needed.

Does this mask have a hole for the forelock to come out? My gelding has a huge forelock and I would hate for it to be stuck in the mask.
A shopper on May 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi!!! No, this mask does not have a hole for the forelock and I've been thinking about cutting one. My horse has a fairly wispy forelock, so if your gelding has a substantial one I would recommend a different mask entirely. Hope this helps!!! Happy trails!!! :)
Does this mask strap with a buckle or Velcro? I had one with a buckle once and it got caught while my horse was wearing it.
A shopper on Aug 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi!! The straps are Velcro, but I should mention that there is no opening for the forelock and I feel like it wasn't helping my horse's already thin forelock to grow. I ended up cutting the ear covers off as well, because they were so large that when my horse would bend over to eat out of her feeder they filled up with itchy little bits of hay that lodged in the mesh. I also had to cut a space in the back so I could attach it to the neck portion of my fly sheet. I was able to make it work, but I would not buy this particular mask again. Sorry for the long response, but I wish I'd known those things in advance!!! Hope that helps!!! Happy trails!!! :)
this is my first horse. I have no idea what kind of fly mask to get. Any is there anyone certain fly mask that are great quality but not expensive ?
A shopper on Sep 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, not really. Fly masks are generally a bit pricey. The best mask is one that fits without rubbing and stays on., the fleece helps against rubbing. The fit is generally a mask that is somewhat loose, especially in the eye area. The Kensington wears well and if you have problems with mites in the ears, then get a mask with ears. Just as a note, the major discount store ( W), has a mask that is about $14.99, but only in horse size.

If your horse is sunlight sensitive, then be sure to get a UV mask, yes it happens with horses with light eyes. Also, if your horse has a white nose and is in the sun, you might consider a mask with a nose piece. If your horse already has some eye irritation, put Vaseline around the eye for a few days so if any flies get to the eye, they won't land. My practice is to have at least two masks. One on my mare and one in the wash that way I bet about two years of use. The greatest wear concern it around the eyes an a mask is trashed when there is a breakdown in the webbing around the eyes. The next best thing on price is to buy at the end of the season on sale. Good luck.
