Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys trail-riding on smaller gaited horses who can't wear huge saddles.
Ordered this saddle for weekend trail rides. It's extremely comfortable, although the seat proved to be quite slick so I put a fleece pad on it and made it even more comfy. Nice quality look overall and love the way it fits both my little 13.3hh Paso mare and my 14.2hh Tennessee Walker gelding. Short enough for their short coupled backs that it doesn't rub the edge of their crops like other saddles have. The only real cons I had with this saddle was that the stirrups are extremely difficult to adjust and you definitely can't adjust them while you are on your horse unless you are a contortionist. I also had to put the stirrups on the highest hole as I am only 5'1". The other con is that the off billet is set very low and there was no way to punch another hole in it. Fortunately, I received a free girth with this saddle purchase and ordered one a couple inches shorter than I usually would. (On a friend's advice) I do wish this saddle came in a 17 inch seat as I have quite a caboose on me, but it's not a huge deal with a half inch difference.

So comfortable for horse and me!
Such a great looking saddle at a great price! It fits my three year old Spotted Saddle Horse beautifully! For me, it's got a padded, deep seat that I love! It's lightweight and looks awesome! Hope it holds up for a long time to come!

poorly constructed saddle
sharp, exposed screw heads not even screwed in. Staples added to take up extra materials on one side. Saddle visibly crooked on tree. Would not attempt to put on horse, would cut your fingers or worse horses wither. And not a chance you could sit straight in this saddle. Sent it back to exchange. Curious if it's just defective, or poor factory workmanship all around?

look like a good saddle

It looks like a very nice light saddle for the money. I recently ordered a Royal King Alpine Trail saddle for my husband, Lovely and comfortable saddle for the money. But I have to have a light saddle due to a shoulder injury. I read that a gated saddle is similar to a semi-quarter horse tree. I have horses that are narrow and high withered. Full Quarter horse trees never fit them right. So, after reading about this, I truly think it will be a wonderful and comfortable saddle for the money.

is the weight of only the saddle is 18 lbs. ? when you add the packing and the box is that what the total weight is 44.00 lbs. I want this saddle if it only weights 18lbs.
marilyn t on Oct 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The size of the box, not the weight, determines shipping weight. The saddle only weighs 18 ibs. The size of the box puts the shipping weight at 44 lbs. Shipping is free any way if it's in the U.S.
does it come with a latigo?
A shopper on Aug 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: YEs but it is nylon and a bit thick so we replaced it with a black leather one.
Can this saddle be used on a short backed paint mare that needs FQH bars?
Judy K on Apr 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: not a good idea, as gaited horses are flatter across the back and need a wider shoulder area, to extend there front legs for their gait. Stick to FQH, as I would think the fit would be better!

How short do the stirrups go?
Kat B on Apr 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The information we were able to get from the Manufacturer is that the fenders are 21" in length, so the top of the stirrup adjusted to the shortest length would be just below that.
