Looked like what I needed for my husband's horse.

My seasoned barn owner/ riding instructor suggested I try this type of bit for my 8 yr. old OTTB. Her suggestion is to make him "like" his work each time we enter the ring. My boy's great to ride, but sometimes a bit suggish during exercise. She wants to see a more frothy mouth and lively step.

Do the cheek pieces help with control? My mare is naughty with a loose ring snaffle.
A shopper on Dec 29, 2015
Best Answer: I like a full cheek snaffle if only for the reason when I have to exert more rein than is ...reasonable, I know this is subjective. The bit doesn't pull through the side of the month. It's the only bit I use. Currently have a percheron ( gelding) and a paint cross ( mare) both respond well with this bit and both can do all the things we are afraid of our horse's doing. The percheron i s hard mouth. The paint can get spooky. Hope this helps.

I have a 16.2hh Thoroughbred gelding, what size bit should I get?
A shopper on May 13, 2014
Best Answer: I have a 15.3, just shy of 16 hand tb/haflinger cross. She's a little on the lighter side of a draft cross. Her last bit was a 5 1/2 inch full cheek which fit well. I tried the 5 inch in the sweet iron korsteel and it fits perfectly on her. You may find the five and half to be a perfect fit!

I have a 15 y/o Morgan Gelding and am a western rider. This horse is new to me and as I never had a Morgan before only Q/Horses what size should I get?
Bill S on Apr 28, 2014
Best Answer: Chances are a 5" will work fine. I would check with a soft cotton string in your horses mouth, hold straight and mark each side at the outside of the lips. Measure and voila! It doesn't matter english or western as long as the bit fits. My green mare LOVES this bit. No pinches, tastes good to her, and is easy to control her head.
