I love this so much. I don't ride high end horses. I usually ride whatever other people don't want. Usually the abused/neglected middle aged horses that have had years of their hooves not being cared for. I love this stuff. It really moisturizes their hooves and helps so much with cracking. I also use it as my own lotion sometimes. It smells really good and doesn't feel super watery like some products do.

Works like Magic!
This is a really great moisterizer. It works wonders. It has been really dry lately and this keeps my horses hooves moist and help prevent chips and cracking

So far so good
Not sure what people are complaining about. I recently started using this on my two thoroughbreds (usually don't have issues with their hooves but it's been super dry lately) and have already noticed a difference. They both started getting sand cracks, and I had this lying around from a while ago so I figured I'd try it. I put a dollar sized amount in my hand and rub it onto the whole hoof wall (after removing dried mud with a hard brush) and by the time I'm on the 4th hoof the 1st already looks like it's soaked in. Sure a brush would be handy, but my hands stay super soft if I just apply it myself.

Love it!
I received a sample of this with some Mane 'n Tail conditioner. I LOVE IT! I didn't use it on my horses, but for human skin it's uh-mazing. I'm very rough on my skin/nails and this stuff works wonders. I just used the last of it this week, so ordering more in a hurry!

Good
i have been using this product for about a week now, and so far i like it! it hasn't been anywhere near long enough to see a difference on my horse's hooves, but it has made my hands softer from applying it, so i like the pump bottle! and i don't find it at all hard to apply, it doesn't take long at all if you apply it by hand. i also like that its like hand lotion rather than being sticky and goopy like other hoof products. the price is also great. overall i am very happy with this product!

Great for Human Skin!
First, I don't know how it performs on the hoof and frankly don't have any hoof problems with either of my horses (both barefoot)...But!! This stuff is EXCELLENT for human skin! I received a sample and have been hooked ever since. It's moisturizing without being greasy. My skin feels soooo smooth. This is my new body, foot and hand lotion of choice!

REALLY hard to use
Unless your horse has a tendency to chip his hooves, this isn't worth it. It's not like human nails that always benefit from grooming- this stuff just isn't worth it for the typical horse. Plus application is a nightmare! You have to clean the hoof inside and out, then apply it from a pump bottle to the brush from a hoof pick to the frog, which makes the whole hoof slick and difficult to hold. Then you have to do the outside. You AND your horse have to be very patient.

???
This stuff does work, but i dont understand why they would put it in a pump bottle. It would be so much easier if it had a brush

Love Hoofmaker! I have used it on me and horses since it came out(early 1980's?). I especially love that is smells clean and herbal and is not sticky. Hands and feet do not stick to socks or bedclothes, and do not leave grease marks on papers. Hooves do not become covered with dirt, weeds, newly shed hair, or other small stuff.

where to buy locally?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The only place I was able to find it, was horse.com.
Does it make My nails hard if I use it?
Brenda O on Aug 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hello Brenda. Yes I did find that the Mane N Tail Hoofmaker lotion made my nails hard by the end of seven days of use. I massaged the lotion on my hands at least once a day focusing mainly on my nails and cuticles.
I found it better to apply the lotion at night right before bed. A little goes a long way and within a weeks time my nails were becoming strong and growing nicely. My cuticles were moisturized( so no more broken ugly inflamed cuticles) and my hands were soft.
I would definitely give this product a try. Start with the small size to see if it works for you. I hope this message was helpful. I know I went beyond the question. I am a very technical person by nature.

Is this good for dogs?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know, as I use it to soften calluses on my hands and feet.
Can Hoofmaker be used on leather?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Product label does not indicate leather use. It only mentions hoof and human skin application. I use it regularly for dry skin due to solvents used with woodworking finishes and such. It is also great for dry, diabetic skin on legs, etc.
Should I apply hoofmaker cream to unpolished fingernails?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Women who own horses have the most healthy and beautiful nails. It is suspected it is because of the hoof creams they use on their horses. I always smooth the remnant cream on my nails and they are strong and beautiful.
what color is the cream supposed to be? Does it get old?
A shopper on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would describe it as a cream color with a hint of light yellow.
Will Mane & Tail Hoof Care help to harden my nails?
Brenda O on Aug 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Directions for Human Use:
Apply to hands, nails, cuticles and skin as necessary. Massage into dry skin, especially hands, elbows and feet.
