My horse has a history of gas colic, and we haven't had a problem since starting him on the Opti-Zyme (knock on wood!) He had been on a different probiotic previously, without this degree of success.

I ride endurance, and this product helps with eating while under stress, which in turn helps to curb ulcers. I have noticed a change in my horse at competitions.
SABRINA L on Jun 16, 2017
My horses have been on this for a year and a half and are doing great. This vendor is significantly less expensive than anywhere else to purchase, and much more convenient than having to stop in a store.

Works great, cost effective

A friend recommended this supplement to me for my aged mare. I have been feeding it for the past two years and I feel that it has helped her maintain her weight.

I used it for my rescue horse, who doesn't seem to poop as much as he should and doesn't always eat all his hay. Since I've started, he eats more and poops more!
Katelynn M on Dec 13, 2015
All five horses will eat this and it clearly has helped at least one of them gain significant (actually too much!) weight. Also the manure is noticeably smaller/more compact.
L O on Sep 15, 2015
The equine nutritionist at our local Southern States recommended this supplement for my nervous and my ulcery horses. Less expensive than several other brands and my horses seem content.
ILKA M on Jun 23, 2015
Great stuff. Stopped watery stools for my horse.
ANGIE S on Jun 14, 2015
My horse will eat this supplement in her feed when she will not eat any others and she is not a picky eater.

I have been using this for awhile now for my older horses and have now started using it for my young. And the price is great.

I use Opti-Zyme because it is crucial to keep a horses intestines moving. I don't get to ride as much as I would like to. My mare goes at least four times from the afternoon feeding till the morning. This a great product!

I have been feeding this to my horses for the last 6 months. The winter was very cold and I wanted to help my horses keep and maintain their weight in the extreme cold weather.

My 27 year old has trouble emptying gut. He is in a probiotic daily and 1 cup of mineral oil twice daily with senior feed. Think this would belp?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Opti-zyme was recommended to me by our local feed store’s equine nutritionist for my ulcer prone gelding and somewhat anxious mare. It’s one of a few supplements I use to help keep their digestive tracts settled down and it’s not very expensive. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to try it but it would probably be best to discuss your horse’s diet with your vet or local horse nutritionist.
does this come in 10 lb carton????
A shopper on Jan 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry this is only available in the 3lb.
I just started my older gelding on this supplement, he is underweight with loose stools. His stool is watery now, is this normal? I didn't know if I should give it a little more time, or if he should have shown improvement right away. Did anyone else's horses stool get worse when they first started in this?
Andrea M on Nov 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My mare did because it's adding enzymes to help move things along and help break down and digest, my vet said it was fine but should last more then a couple weeks. But really depends on your horses health and what diet you have them on. My mare was fine within a week and after a month use I noticed she wasn't so gut sensitive, consult a vet if your concerned. Used it for months and saw improvement
My 28 year old horse after using opti zyme a couple of days was acting like he was going to colic. After two days off his feed, tonight I only gave him his senior feed without the opti zyme and he ate it. Are there any cases where this product is not appealing to a horse or could it have made him colic mildly?.
A shopper on Mar 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know about it giving horses colic. I use it to help my horses digest their food better. I even give extra to my 26 year old who has digestive issues. My vet said to keep all of my horses on it. And my mini and 26 year old had colic issues prior to using Opti-zyme. You should call your vet and ask. As for not liking it, all mine eat it right with there grain but I do make sure to mix it in well. My vet also has me add some water to my seniors grain. Just enough to moisten it for him. I love the product. I also have my guys on pro-bios. I give them the soft chews, one a day. That is also great for digestion issues.
Gotta love our senior babies! Hope you figure it out.
I board my horse an hour from me. If I only feed it to him 3 days a week will it do any good?
Carla D on Oct 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi, anything is better than nothing. Fortunatly my horse is 50 ft. from my house & I feed this almost every morning. If I don't feed this I give her three to four apples. She had a conpaction a year ago so I have been giving her the mix since. She will deficate 3 to 4 times a night.. I have a mix I use with bran, a cup of rolled oats, opti
zyme, antigest, calf-manna & some apple sauce. My horse loves this mixture and will ask for it after I give her her hay. The main thing you want to achieve is to keep those guts moving. A horse, like us if thier guts aren't moving, they are not feeling well. A horse's intestinal track is very sensitive. Good luck and Happy Trails!!
is this pelleted, or powder?
A shopper on Nov 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is a course powder. It mixes well into a grain feed but I put a little water into a pelletted feed so the Opti-Zyme sticks better, otherwise it willl sift to the bottom of the grain bucket.
