good, inexpensive
I needed a training hackamore for my little mare and friend's big gelding that wasn't too pricey. This one adjusts for both. plus, is durable enough to use until I get a more advanced model. it was a good deal all around.

2nd review after use
Originally i gave this a 2 star rating but after some use and practice my horse and i love it! Gives my mare the option to get a bite to eat here and there while on long trail rides all while giving the perfect amount of control!

I can't attest to the durability because I haven't had it long
I love the material it is made out of. The rope is really soft so it doesn't run the horse's nose as much.

Rope hackamore
I dont recommend this hackamore if horse isnt already trained for hackamore because the loose rope nose piece doesnt give enough control

This doesn't work for a horse that's stubborn and need a firm hand to listen. My horse took doesn't like the bit but he will take off on u and won't stop withourlt a bit. If u have a horse that's very thick headed but smart this will not work for breaking.

I bought 2 of them!
I have 2 of these and am thinking about buying a third. I have used this to start 3 horse to saddle now and they love it . It is a great tool, My mares are retired brood mares that are entering the world of riding horses and they were not to happy when I put a bit in their mouth but they took right to the hackamore and are supple and light in the bridal. I had tried sidepulls in the past and hated them this is they way to go. My only complaint is even though the bridal could fit an elephant the noseband is the perfect fit for my Arabian mare, if you had a horse with a bigish head it would not fit at all.

Noseband too small for my Mustang/ draft cross
Like the other reviews, the headstall is generous in size and well made, unfortunately for me the noseband is way too small for my Mustang/draft cross. So will keep looking, would really like to get him out of a bit.

Noseband
I was wondering if there was any way to make the noseband bigger. If there is, please tell me how. I only ask this because my horse has a very wide muzzle. Thanks

no bit
My horse has a very sensitive mouth and doesn't like to take the bit. This bridle works well for her. I only have one minor issue, the reins are too long. I have to wrap them around my arm, so they don't dangle at her feet.

is it ok to use for just everyday use instead of breaking?
A shopper on Aug 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is great to use for everyday, if your horse is trained and able to control easily. Or even if the horse doesn't like or cant take a bit. But I recommend trying it in a round pen and going from there if you have never used one before.
will this fit a 14h horse,quarter,palamino?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This hackamore is sized for average horses approximately 800-1100 lbs, if that range is good for your horse.
Is this considered a loping hackamore?
A shopper on Sep 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: you can- but would need one that is giving to reins as the nose piece is soft
Can someone tell me how the reins attach to the noseband? Can't tell from the picture or the description.
SIGOURNEY P on Oct 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The mecate (an 8 foot long rope) ties to the bottom of the hackamore with a large knot that is pulled upwards to touch the throat of the horse when the reins are pulled back.
What is the nose piece made of?
A shopper on Jul 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is a soft nylon rope that has been braided. It's nice and good price.
will it adjust? I have an Arabian that wont take a bit
sheila g on Feb 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It should fit an Arabian fine. There is some room for adjustment on each side of the leather headstall. Adjusting it for horses with large heads becomes a lot trickier, because you may need to adjust the fiador in addition to the side buckles. Out of all the horses I trained last year I had to do that one time. I hope that helps.
Will this fit a 16 hand Rocky Mountain gelding?
A shopper on May 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This fits an average size horse 800-1000 lbs.
can you barrel race in a hackamore like this?
daedae on Dec 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I do not barrel race but I think it would depend on your horses training. Personally I just use it for training purposes.
