Will this help with a horse that rears?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2015
Best Answer: No this won't help with a horse that rears. It will simply make him rear with his head tucked, which may discourage the rearing somewhat, but not fix it. Rearing is a behavior problem needing to be fixed by proper training and groundwork, not gimmicks and ropes. A head setter is simply meant to help a horse keep his face tucked when the work gets a little to fast for the rider to constantly be correcting the horse's head set.

Can this be used with a mechanical hack?
John D on Feb 8, 2015
Best Answer: I don't use a mechanical hackamore on the mare I use this tie down on but I don't see why you couldn't. This tie down is designed to work off of the poll more than the nose. It helps her to use her rear end more in the turn on the barrels. It has made a big difference for her to help her make smoother turns. I would suggest that you ride them slow to let them get used to how the tie down engages. My mare freaked a little when it engaged on her poll when she was used to a tie down engaging on the noseband but she adjusted quickly. Hope this helps! Best wishes!
