Very comfy. Warning: DO NOT Leave this saddle in the sun. The glue melts. Other than not letting it sit in a hot area, this saddle is great.

Wanted convenient tack for quick rides and easy on my horse's back.
NANCY B on Feb 4, 2015
I have a rescue horse who has shark withers, and a low slung short back. Our western saddles did not fit him and trying to find an english or endurance saddle here in the White Mountains was impossible. After searching for a solution for days on end, found this soft saddle and the reviews were encouraging. This soft ride is supposed to fit any size or shape horse, hope this works.

I need more info on sizing. I ride in a 17.5 dressage saddle normally. Which one should I order?

Can the stirrups be removed and if so, without any lumps or bumps interfering with the rider's leg?
victoria p on Apr 1, 2014
Best Answer: Yes, the stirrups can easily be removed. They attach to a dee that sits next to the cinch dee. The "saddle material is thick so the rigging can't be easily felt while riding. The stirrups do hang pretty far back but if you want a more forward leg there is room to attach it to the girth rigging without a problem.

What type of horse blanket goes with this saddle?
Janet G on Jan 18, 2016
Best Answer: I purchased the Mustang cut back built up western pad. My horse has high withers with a short slopping back. He did not like the foam padding of the saddle on him, so the pad solved two problems. I think either an English or Western pad would work just fine. There is an English pad with pockets that I am looking at for trail riding. Hope this helps.

I'm 5'2 , 115lbs. generally ride in 15 inch western or english, but 14 inch is way to tight. Should I go up to 16, 17 inch in this or is 14,15inch going to have enough space, I like secure, but not slop in my seat?.
joni s on Feb 24, 2016
Best Answer: I'm sorry; I returned the saddle shortly after I bought it because the stirrups are set way too far back in my opinion and there was no way for me to rig them more in front. I believe it was true to common western sizing though. I bought the 16/17 and I usually take a 16 inch and it fit just like a 16 inch, but like I said; I don't know what the manufacturer was thinking when they rigged the stirrups so far back. .. it was awhile ago. Maybe they improved that by now..

Does this saddle have leg rolls?
c s on Jun 28, 2015
Best Answer: No leg roles,Gotta say though.I've had it for a while now .I still love it.The only question I had when I bought it was if it was durable. It is absolutely durable.Has stood the test of time and elements. It hangs on my corral fence every day.Maybe a little bit faded.Otherwise,as good as the day I bought it.I use it often on mutiple horses.5 stars

Can you get on and off using the stirrups?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2014
Best Answer: I dont know because I took it back right away. The stirrups are set WAY too far back. I have had this trouble with another soft type saddle I had previously bought too (not from horse.com) I suggested in my note when I returned that they put the stirrup dee's right above the girth D's.

Is this saddle comfortable to ride in shorts, so I can ride at the lake or coast?
Pamela C on Jul 20, 2014
Best Answer: I have never ridden in shorts but if I did I would want to be using this saddle. No areas to rub legs.

I'm purchasing one soon, but I was wondering which type of breast collar would be better. Western style or English style?
amy g on Jun 6, 2016
Best Answer: Hi Amy,

I haven't used a breast collar with my saddle because I usually just use it for short rides around home or on flat land. Sorry I can't help you, but I would think an English would work if you're trying to get rid of the extra weight. Hope that helps a little. Joyce

Is the sizing Western or English?
Lou F on Sep 9, 2015
Best Answer: I bought the larger size for 2 reasons I am an adult & felt the large saddle would better suit my needs. I am 5' 3" & weigh around 140 lbs. My horse is 16.1 hands. I have plenty of room, yet my grandchildren ages 7 & 5 managed fine. I liked the hand hold for them. The saddle is basically made of foam so it will fit various sized horses. I have always ridden English and I would say this is a cross between Western & Australian in its design. Stirrups are closer to Western & it uses a Western girth. Hope this helps.

BECKY L on Nov 9, 2015

Dose this require a saddle pad?
Lisa S on Oct 8, 2016
Best Answer: I didn't use a pad because I only intended to use it on one horse. I have saddle pads that are made from the same material this saddle is made from so it seemed redundant to put a pad under this saddle, however, if I were going to use on more than one horse I would use a thin pad which could be washed to stop any possible cross contamination of skin problems between horses. Hope this helps!

Is there a way to attach saddle bags to the back of this?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2017
Best Answer: No, the rigging is limited to girth, stirrup & front D rings, which I use for breast collar. But am happy with saddle as it solved a problem of saddle fit on my Quarter horse with swayback. Rode bareback for a long time, but some recent panic events dumping me convinced me, reluctantly, that I needed something. Looked at other bareback saddles & ratings, & this one came out on top at a good price. Which is good, because even though it works well for me, I wouldn't be surprised if it only lasted 3-4 years- it is all different types of foam after all. I'd buy another at that point.

I am considering this for a small pony .. would the small size work???
Mary J on Mar 27, 2016
Best Answer: I bought the 17in for my Thoroughbred, and it fits him perfectly. He is 16.2 hands and 1200lbs. I do not think that this will fit a small pony. You might want to look for a pony size saddle. Also this saddle will slip when you put your weight on the stirrup, as most bareback pads will.

I am looking for an affordable soft saddle or my 34 year old gelding. He is in good health and I would like to ride him gently and regularly to keep him in good form and to keep him alert. However, I don't want to use my heavy trail saddle on him but a bareback pad isn't quite enough for me if he misbehaves. Would the Mustang soft saddle work for this?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2016
Best Answer: Yes, I think this may be just what you are looking for. I really liked it, I just ordered a size to small and had to send it back and did not order another, but I did really like it. It was very light weight and padded. The seat itself could be a bit more padded, but the part next to the horse was. Hope this helps.

what material is the seat?
ARIANA G on Aug 24, 2016
Best Answer: Gosh, I couldn't tell you, and I sent it back, but it was kind of fake suede-y. Not shiny or leathery. Firm but comfortable. The saddle seat was "thicker"overall than my well-worn Australian saddle, which gives closer contact. Hope this is of some help!

How thick is this "saddle"? and does it have a spine channel?
A shopper on Aug 12, 2016
Best Answer: I consider it thick. I have six horses with all kinds of builds. Mutton withered and high withered. I throw it up on all of them. Not one has had a problem with it. I would have to go out to my trailer and look to see if it has a channel as I can not really recall. It is also very comfortable.

Does this saddle fit a donkey?
A shopper on May 6, 2015
Best Answer: This Soft Ride Saddle is designed to fit an average size horse, but it would "probably" fit a donkey. We couldn't say, however, if it would slip more on donkeys, or fit inappropriately otherwise? The neoprene bottom might help hold it in place, or a breast collar may also help, but unfortunately it's not possible to know for sure in advance.

I have a Morgan that is not doing well with a western saddle, I need a saddle that is suited for her and myself. I am 69 yrs old. Any suggestions?
indi68 on May 16, 2017
Best Answer: I'm not sure what the question is? But I have a very wide backed Morgan mare also, and she does well in the mustang saddle or an Abetta wide/extra wide trail saddle also, with a cut back saddle pad, for her large withers and wide shoulders. I think she seems more comfortable with some kind of gripping pad under the mustang saddle. But for longer rides I think she seems more comfortable in the trail saddle. Hope this helps!

What are the dimensions of this saddle? My gypsy vanner horse is 13-3 hands, mutton withers and very short backed. Looking at the 16" size. Thanks
A shopper on Aug 30, 2016
Best Answer: Mustang advises us that the medum (14"/15") measures 15" from the front of the swell to the beginning of the cantle.
The large (16"/17") measures 17" from the front of the swell to the beginning of the cantle.

Is this saddle ridden with a straight leg or more bent like an all purpose?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2016
Best Answer: This saddle includes Western style sturrups, so most people will use it with a straight leg. The flap is curved enough, however, to take a shorter stirrup length and a more bent knee if desired.

I am only now training my 4 yr old to take a saddle. I bought this primarily because I can ride her in the sea and not worry about the saddle! Problem is...
The saddle only came with one webbed strap with holes in it. Not 2 like the picture shows when you purchase it. Am I missing a strap? I cannot hook my cinch to just one strap...Please let me know if this saddle should've come with 2 straps. Where can I buy another strap?
