No Regrets
I am extremely happy with this saddle. I'm 57 yrs. old and used to ride bareback in my younger days. I wanted something lightweight and easy to throw on my horse for quick rides, while still having the feeling of security. This is perfect for my needs....lightweight, comfy, and I can feel my horse's movement under this saddle. I feel sure my horse is happy with it too.

Wanted to love it
I had heard good things and loved how light, quick, and easy this is. I love riding bareback and wanted to love this but this did not work out for me unfortunately. My horse is extremely well behaved but in a arena he does throw a small buck or two at the canter (and I went flying off) and rarely but sometimes does spook. In my opinion this isn't for anyone that has a horse with any sort of attitude. My soft saddle had gaps on the side to where it just didn't fit my horse good, and by the end of a 4 hour ride my butt was killing me. Not worth the money.

Pluses, but mine had flaws in construcion
After reading all the reviews, I ordered this saddle. Comments about stirrup placement being back a bit far were right, at least for my small body. Got smaller seat size, which was still plenty roomy. I will send it back because it was put together poorly. Probably a fluke. Had large gap on one side of my horse's shoulder area, (no, my Walker is not deformed!) and one of the rings at the front for attaching things was attached too far back, so that it could not be used properly. Pluses: weight, comfort of seat. Minuses: sloppy assembly (no quality control?) and stirrup placement. Not sure if I'll ask for new one or keep looking.

Nice alternative to bareback.
My mare is wide with no withers and treed saddles were leaving dry spots at the withers. This pad is also leaving dry spots, but the damage may already be on her back. I use a wool endurance pad under the neoprene bareback pad to promote breathing as we ride long distances. The cantle build up on the bareback pad provides security while going up steep hills that my mare lunges up, which was a great help. (A breast collar is essential on hills.) A bicycle coming out of the woods caused my mare to spook last night and I was secure in the bareback pad - another unexpected result. The bareback pad is glued together mainly so it's not the best quality, but it's acceptable at the price point. So far, I'm happy with the pad. My only disappointment is that there's no place to attach a water bottle or even a small saddle bag. I am likely going to attach a cantle bag to either the stirrup rings or the cinch rings and see how secure it rides.

Amazing Product! Couldn't ask for more!
I ride Western trail and injured my shoulder. I could not lift ANY saddle, but had no trouble riding. My horse is too high strung to ride bareback and, anyway, I could not hang on properly with my injured shoulder. I was looking for a safer alternative when I read the good reviews on this product. I purchased the 14/15" seat and am so impressed that I may never go back to a saddle again. It weighs 5 lbs and I can put it on with one hand. It cinches just like a western saddle and by throwing the cinch strap over my shoulder and using my legs, I can get it real tight. The seat is non-slip "rubber", and I ride in hilly country with no problems. The saddle and I stay put. I am 5'4", 118 lbs. and I can mount and dismount using the stirrups. Altho not necessary, I can put my Navajo pad under it, by folding the front edge back under the saddle for a dressier look. I am SOOO VERY glad I purchased this product. Everyone is right - it is terrific.

Wonder no more...just get it!
After much research and pondering, I ordered the saddle and am glad I did. It is comfortable for me and my horse. I find no problem with the stirrup placement as I ride English and find that if I sit properly, I am in perfect heel, hip and shoulder alignment. I don't use any saddle pad and the saddle stayed put and formed to my horse nicely. I got the larger size and am pleased. I am 5'5" and weigh 160. I have a big paint mare . If you're on the fence about getting this saddle, don't be hesitant. Try it. It's great for those days you just want to ride and not have to deal with a heavy saddle and pad.

WOW! Nice!
I was hoping to get an interm saddle while my "good" saddle was out getting repaired. What I got was a VERY nice 2nd saddle that flexes to fit any back. It was comfortable from the first ride. I'm not only surprised but very pleased with the saddle.

This is what I use as my bareback pad because it's so comfortable for me and my horse. Just throw it on and go (and it even has attachments for a breast collar if you want more stability). I like having the stirrups for security if my horse spooks to the side. Another one of my most recommended and favorite products! Everyone who sees it asks me about it and once they try mine out on their horse, they usually end up getting their own.

I have a rescue horse who has shark withers, and a low slung short back. Our western saddles did not fit him and trying to find an english or endurance saddle here in the White Mountains was impossible. After searching for a solution for days on end, found this soft saddle and the reviews were encouraging. This soft ride is supposed to fit any size or shape horse, hope this works.

Very comfy. Warning: DO NOT Leave this saddle in the sun. The glue melts. Other than not letting it sit in a hot area, this saddle is great.

I need more info on sizing. I ride in a 17.5 dressage saddle normally. Which one should I order?
Kay R on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: what additional sizing information can we assist you with ?
Can the stirrups be removed and if so, without any lumps or bumps interfering with the rider's leg?
victoria p on Apr 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the stirrups can easily be removed. They attach to a dee that sits next to the cinch dee. The "saddle material is thick so the rigging can't be easily felt while riding. The stirrups do hang pretty far back but if you want a more forward leg there is room to attach it to the girth rigging without a problem.
What type of horse blanket goes with this saddle?
Janet G on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I purchased the Mustang cut back built up western pad. My horse has high withers with a short slopping back. He did not like the foam padding of the saddle on him, so the pad solved two problems. I think either an English or Western pad would work just fine. There is an English pad with pockets that I am looking at for trail riding. Hope this helps.
I'm 5'2 , 115lbs. generally ride in 15 inch western or english, but 14 inch is way to tight. Should I go up to 16, 17 inch in this or is 14,15inch going to have enough space, I like secure, but not slop in my seat?.
joni s on Feb 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry; I returned the saddle shortly after I bought it because the stirrups are set way too far back in my opinion and there was no way for me to rig them more in front. I believe it was true to common western sizing though. I bought the 16/17 and I usually take a 16 inch and it fit just like a 16 inch, but like I said; I don't know what the manufacturer was thinking when they rigged the stirrups so far back. .. it was awhile ago. Maybe they improved that by now..
Can you get on and off using the stirrups?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I dont know because I took it back right away. The stirrups are set WAY too far back. I have had this trouble with another soft type saddle I had previously bought too (not from horse.com) I suggested in my note when I returned that they put the stirrup dee's right above the girth D's.
Does this saddle have leg rolls?
c s on Jun 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No leg roles,Gotta say though.I've had it for a while now .I still love it.The only question I had when I bought it was if it was durable. It is absolutely durable.Has stood the test of time and elements. It hangs on my corral fence every day.Maybe a little bit faded.Otherwise,as good as the day I bought it.I use it often on mutiple horses.5 stars
Does anyone know how well this will hold up after getting submerged in water?
BECKY L on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This saddle is unbelievable in its durability.I've left it on the corral fence in the rain.Really never taken care of it and it's still as soft and supple as the day I got it.still holding up,I use it alot,I swear I do not work for these guys
Is this saddle comfortable to ride in shorts, so I can ride at the lake or coast?
Pamela C on Jul 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have never ridden in shorts but if I did I would want to be using this saddle. No areas to rub legs.
I'm purchasing one soon, but I was wondering which type of breast collar would be better. Western style or English style?
amy g on Jun 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Amy,

I haven't used a breast collar with my saddle because I usually just use it for short rides around home or on flat land. Sorry I can't help you, but I would think an English would work if you're trying to get rid of the extra weight. Hope that helps a little. Joyce
Is the sizing Western or English?
Lou F on Sep 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought the larger size for 2 reasons I am an adult & felt the large saddle would better suit my needs. I am 5' 3" & weigh around 140 lbs. My horse is 16.1 hands. I have plenty of room, yet my grandchildren ages 7 & 5 managed fine. I liked the hand hold for them. The saddle is basically made of foam so it will fit various sized horses. I have always ridden English and I would say this is a cross between Western & Australian in its design. Stirrups are closer to Western & it uses a Western girth. Hope this helps.
what material is the seat?
ARIANA G on Aug 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Gosh, I couldn't tell you, and I sent it back, but it was kind of fake suede-y. Not shiny or leathery. Firm but comfortable. The saddle seat was "thicker"overall than my well-worn Australian saddle, which gives closer contact. Hope this is of some help!
what is the weight of this soft saddle?
Vivianne L on May 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It weighs about 5 1/2 lbs.
Dose this require a saddle pad?
Lisa S on Oct 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I didn't use a pad because I only intended to use it on one horse. I have saddle pads that are made from the same material this saddle is made from so it seemed redundant to put a pad under this saddle, however, if I were going to use on more than one horse I would use a thin pad which could be washed to stop any possible cross contamination of skin problems between horses. Hope this helps!
Is there a way to attach saddle bags to the back of this?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, the rigging is limited to girth, stirrup & front D rings, which I use for breast collar. But am happy with saddle as it solved a problem of saddle fit on my Quarter horse with swayback. Rode bareback for a long time, but some recent panic events dumping me convinced me, reluctantly, that I needed something. Looked at other bareback saddles & ratings, & this one came out on top at a good price. Which is good, because even though it works well for me, I wouldn't be surprised if it only lasted 3-4 years- it is all different types of foam after all. I'd buy another at that point.
I am considering this for a small pony .. would the small size work???
Mary J on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought the 17in for my Thoroughbred, and it fits him perfectly. He is 16.2 hands and 1200lbs. I do not think that this will fit a small pony. You might want to look for a pony size saddle. Also this saddle will slip when you put your weight on the stirrup, as most bareback pads will.
How do you clean daily?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't clean it daily. I store it in a saddle bag. I use a saddle pad to keep the bottom clean. If it should get dirty I use water and rag to clean. I store it inside during cold weather. They get very stiff when cold. I live in Wisconsin and we have very cold winters.
I am looking for an affordable soft saddle or my 34 year old gelding. He is in good health and I would like to ride him gently and regularly to keep him in good form and to keep him alert. However, I don't want to use my heavy trail saddle on him but a bareback pad isn't quite enough for me if he misbehaves. Would the Mustang soft saddle work for this?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I think this may be just what you are looking for. I really liked it, I just ordered a size to small and had to send it back and did not order another, but I did really like it. It was very light weight and padded. The seat itself could be a bit more padded, but the part next to the horse was. Hope this helps.
How thick is this "saddle"? and does it have a spine channel?
A shopper on Aug 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I consider it thick. I have six horses with all kinds of builds. Mutton withered and high withered. I throw it up on all of them. Not one has had a problem with it. I would have to go out to my trailer and look to see if it has a channel as I can not really recall. It is also very comfortable.
Can you move the stirrups forward?
A shopper on Nov 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Not easily, only on to the cinch rings. Stirrups are set pretty far back.
where is this soft saddle manufactured?
Vivianne L on May 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This soft saddle is manufactured in Vietnam.
Does this saddle fit a donkey?
A shopper on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This Soft Ride Saddle is designed to fit an average size horse, but it would "probably" fit a donkey. We couldn't say, however, if it would slip more on donkeys, or fit inappropriately otherwise? The neoprene bottom might help hold it in place, or a breast collar may also help, but unfortunately it's not possible to know for sure in advance.
Does this saddle come with a girth?
Mary Lou R on Jul 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No girth, straps and hardware(western). So purchase the girth of your choice and your off to tell races
I have a Morgan that is not doing well with a western saddle, I need a saddle that is suited for her and myself. I am 69 yrs old. Any suggestions?
indi68 on May 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what the question is? But I have a very wide backed Morgan mare also, and she does well in the mustang saddle or an Abetta wide/extra wide trail saddle also, with a cut back saddle pad, for her large withers and wide shoulders. I think she seems more comfortable with some kind of gripping pad under the mustang saddle. But for longer rides I think she seems more comfortable in the trail saddle. Hope this helps!
What are the dimensions of this saddle? My gypsy vanner horse is 13-3 hands, mutton withers and very short backed. Looking at the 16" size. Thanks
A shopper on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mustang advises us that the medum (14"/15") measures 15" from the front of the swell to the beginning of the cantle.
The large (16"/17") measures 17" from the front of the swell to the beginning of the cantle.
Is this saddle ridden with a straight leg or more bent like an all purpose?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This saddle includes Western style sturrups, so most people will use it with a straight leg. The flap is curved enough, however, to take a shorter stirrup length and a more bent knee if desired.
What is a mustang cut back , built up saddle pad look like and purpose?

Cut back fronts provide wither relief. Built up at the front provides more padding in the shoulder pocket for horses who need it.

The saddle only came with one webbed strap with holes in it. Not 2 like the picture shows when you purchase it. Am I missing a strap? I cannot hook my cinch to just one strap...Please let me know if this saddle should've come with 2 straps. Where can I buy another strap?
