I was a certified Veterinary Assistant for 10 years. My experience told me that these Oster clippers are a great quality clipper that will last for years. I have not been disappointed. I purchased these clippers in 2012, they are working and looking like new. The batteries still hold a charge. I use them for everything from family haircuts, grooming horses, trimming dogs, to clipping for IV insertions on calves. It comes with an additional battery, cleaning brush and a sturdy carrying case.

Are these clippers good for body clipping horses along with show trimming? Or are they better for one or the other?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2017
Best Answer: Hi fellow clipper user. I was some what disappointed in these clippers. I have had other Oster clippers that were smaller and a lot more powerful. I have Paso Fino horses and these clippers have a hard time getting through their hair to make a bridle path. They are not powerful enough. They work well for whiskers. They are also quite heavy as half the clipper is battery. The batteries do not last anywhere near as long as advertised. The big thing is that they get hot very quickly. If you tried to body clip with them it would take you forever because you would have to allow the clippers to cool down numerous times during the process. Hope this helps.

Would these clippers work for my rough coat collie? I've bought a couple clippers over the last few years and none of them will trim his fur. I was told to buy a different size blade and did so, but still wouldn't shave through the fur. Considering the investment, but want expert advice on if these would work. Thanks!!

Best Answer: These clippers should do the trick but the blade size used will be a huge factor. According to Oster, for a heavy, double coat such as a Collie would have, for a body clip the recommended blade sizes are: Size 7; Size 5; Size 4; Size 3; Size 7F; Size 5F; Size 4F; or Size 3F
