I need a hat to keep the sun out, plus be weather repellent. I used this hat for the first time and am very pleased with the results. My head was not cold and the chin strap keeps the hat on in the wind and when loping my horse. I have not tried it in the rain yet.

I want this hat in brown. The pictures all look black. The band is brown, but the hat looks black?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2016
Best Answer: It does look black, but it is dark brown...I have two different styles. I also bought the Outback Duck Back Dressing and hand rubbed it into the outside of the hat as well as both sides of the brim...It lasts for about 6-9 months before you have to reapply. It works GREAT for keeping my hat water proof and the dirt off. You just need to give it a couple of days to soak into the hat. All in all, I'm VERY satisfied with my purchase.

Can you remove the chin strap?
Toby H on Apr 25, 2017
Best Answer: yes you can. Hat is very stiff so I would suggest pushing strap into hat so it is available if it gets windy. Incidentally I love this hat. Keeps rain off, good protection from sun, oddly very cool. It is stiff so not packabke and flys off if there is wind.
