Product Summary:

Panacur® Paste 10% Horse Dewormer

Panacur is a highly palatable apple-cinnamon flavored wormer that covers a broad spectrum of worms. Very easy on your horse, and perfect for sensitive horses, it is safe on all ages and breeds of horses, as well as for pregnant or lactating mares. It can be used up to five days in a row for severe worm cases. If you don’t know your horse's worming history, it's an ideal first-time wormer, as well as an excellent rotational wormer.

Each gram of Panacur Paste contains 100mg of fenbendazole and is flavored with artificial apple-cinnamon liquid. It is indicated for the control of large strongyles (Strongylus edentatus, S. equinus, S. vulgaris), encysted early third stage (hypobiotic), late third stage and fourth stage cyathostome larvae, small strongyles, pinworms (Oxyuris equi), ascarids (Parascaris equorum), and arteritis caused by fourth stage larvae of Stongylus vulgaris in horses.

This item is not available to ship to Canada.

Item Specifications:

Size:
25g syringe

Dosage: Administer orally at a rate of 2.3mg/lb. (5mg/kg) for the control of large strongyles, small strongyles, and pinworms. One syringe will deworm a 1,100 lb. horse. For foals and weanlings (less than 18 months of age) where ascarids are a common problem, the recommended dose is 4.6mg/lb. (10mg/kg); one syringe will deworm a 550 lb. horse.
For control of encysted early 3rd stage (hypobiotic), late 3rd stage and 4th stage cyathostome larvae and 4th stage larvae of Strongylus vulgaris, the recommended dose is 4.6mg/lb. (10 mg/kg) daily for five consecutive days; administer one syringe for each 550 lb. body weight per day.
Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitism.

Storage:
Store in original container at or below 77º F.

Cautions:
Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. When using Panacur Paste 10%, concomitantly with trichlorfon, refer to the manufacturer's label for use and cautions for trichlorfon.

Warnings:
Do not use in horses intended for food.

Precautions:
Side effects associated with Panacur Paste 10% could not be established in well-controlled safety studies in horses with single doses as high as 454mg/lb. (1,000mg/kg) and 15 consecutive daily doses of 22.7mg/lb. (50mg/kg). Particularly with higher doses, the lethal action of fenbendazole may cause the release of antigens by the dying parasites. This phenomenon may result in either a local or systemic hypersensitive reaction. As with any drug, these reactions should be treated symptomatically. Panacur Paste 10% has been evaluated for safety in pregnant mares during all stages of gestation with doses as high as 11.4mg/lb. (25mg/kg) and in stallions with doses as high as 11.4mg/lb. (25mg/kg). No adverse effects on reproductively were detected. The recommended dose for control of 4th stage larvae of Strongylus vulgaris, 4.6mg/lb. (10mg/kg) daily for five consecutive days, has not been evaluated for safety in stallions or pregnant mares.

Is Panacur safe to use on pregnant mares?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Be VERY cautious about using all wormers with mares in foal, especially as they approach their delivery date.
Will this eliminate product large strongyles?
A shopper on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I actually use it on my goats, but it will take care of them.
Why not just use 5 tubes of this product rather than the Panzcur PowerPac Paste?
missy h on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Horse owners use the PowerPac to treat encysted small strongyles, to super-deworm new stock, or at their veterinarian's direction.
Also, if there are 10 or more horses to deworm, the PowerPac is more cost-effective. One double-dose tube is used to treat two horses since it is more than twice the content of the singles (57g vs. 25g).
I just got a filly and Want to worm her with this she's 570lbs very wormy was told to give this to her 5 days in a row? So I can split one tube (use 2xs) and give it to her for 5 days? So I need 3 tubes or can I do it for 4 days or 1 day never had to deal with this before
Jessica H on Apr 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The vet told me to do this also. They offer a "kit" with the proper dosage for 5 days. Give the full dose every day.
what is the difference between 5 day dose pac pancur verses giving single dose pancur for 5 days?
A shopper on Mar 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just checked on this and ordered the power pack, it has more active ingredient in it and turns out to be cheaper.
Is this safe for pregnant mares? is it safe for lactating mares?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Panacur Paste 10% has been evaluated for safety in pregnant mares during all stages of gestation with doses as high as 11.4 mg/lb. (25 mg/kg) and in stallions with doses as high as 11.4 mg/lb. (25 mg/kg). No adverse effects on reproductively were detected. The recommended dose for control of 4th stage larvae of Strongylus vulgaris, 4.6 mg/lg (10 mg/kg) daily for 5 consecutive days, has not been evaluated for safety in stallions or pregnant mares. Please also check with your horse's veterinarian.
Is it possible to know how much medication is dispensed per graduation on the syringe?
Mark R on Dec 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The only information we can offer you regarding your question is :
Dosage: Administer orally at a rate of 2.3 mg/lb. (5 mg/kg) for the control of large strongyles, small strongyles, and pinworms. One syringe will deworm a 1,100 lb. horse. For foals and weanlings (less than 18 months of age) where ascarids are a common problem, the recommended dose is 4.6 mg/lb. (10 mg/kg); one syringe will deworm a 550 lb. horse.

We also recommend that you consult your local vet if any changes in dosage.
can i give a whole tube of panacur to my weanlings? they weigh between 350-600 pds. I see worms in thier manure.
Marsha M on Nov 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No. One syringe will deworm a 1,100 pound horse. You can probably split it and use one syringe for both horses. Make sure you know the correct weight. I have a 300 pound Shetland Pony and I give him a quarter of the syringe and use the rest to add to the other syringe for my 1400 pound Thoroughbred. Hope this helps!
