what type of battery is recommended ?
A shopper on Apr 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used a 12V marine battery and a 50W solar panel with charge controller to keep it charged. I am in FL and the panel keeps up with 24/7 power draw from this device just fine. Not super portable, but don't have to run miles of extension cord and CAN move it when I want.
Does this charger need to be protected from the weather?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I put mine in a plastic enclosure for weather protectionEnter
How do you to hook up the clamps?
A shopper on Apr 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The clamps go to the respective battery terminals. The fencing wire goes to the round knobs on the front of the charger. We also hook up three large solar panels to the deep cycle marine battery that powers this fence. It works great for stallions and large horses.
