Not good for long
I purchased 3 of these bags about 2-3 years ago. At first they were wonderful and fairly easy to fill, then they started falling apart even with horses that didn't flip them around. I have patched them together with cable ties and screws, but now even the fabric is trash. The stitching went first but the nylon straps are still good and the hardware is durable.

Great product and so far has lasted about 2 months
I bought 2 of these bags because I have one old mare that just throws her hay around, then after walking on it, will not eat it. These bags are much easier than hay nets to fill. One of the 2 was slightly ripped at the corner by a pony who is an aggressive eater, but it is still usable.. I thought it would be good for him since he is such a pig. I've been using them about 2 months and the one in the mare's pen is just fine. I have ordered another because I like to keep the hay dry in winter. I don't have cover. Prices at this site seem to change daily and the last one I ordered cost more than the first 2.

Did JUST what I wanted. Let my horse get SOME hay with out making him furious with the slow feed bags!

Nice product.
I horse camp and trail ride frequently. For long trips, I load bales of hay into my trailer. For shorter trips, I load up six hay bags. Using the hay bags makes it easy to load up for a weekend trip. The Professional Choice bags have nice snaps for placing the bag on a corral rail.

Horses eat hay out of bags at show. This one allows decent access from both sides.

I use several hay bags when I go horse camping so I don't have to lift a whole hay bale into my vehicle. Plus, the use of hay bags is convenient while at camp. This purchase of 2 new bags gives me a total of 6 hay bags - enough for a weekend of camping with two horses.

I am looking for a 'slower' feeding alternative for when I travel with my horses, so there isn't so much wasted hay. I will try this out.

How many flakes of hay will this hold? Will this hold up if it is left in a stall with a horse?
Margie on Feb 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This item can hold 5-10 pounds of hay, depending on the type of hay. Also, it should hold up in a stall unless the horse is unusually destructive.
Is the closure velcro? I use alfalfa and find the velcro useless after a while as it gets full of the leaves.
shiara k on Apr 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes the closure on this item is Velcro.
