(Details)

Product Summary:

Contains 43.9% pyrantel pamoate for use in horses and foals for the removal and control of mature infections of large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms and large roundworms.

Dosage:
Single oral dose of 3 mg pyrantel base per lb. of body weight. Each syringe treats 1,200 lbs. (generic). For maximum control of parasitism, it is recommended that foals (2 – 8 months of age) be dosed every 4 weeks. To minimize the potential source of infection that the mare may pose to the foal, the mare should be treated 1 month prior to anticipated foaling date, followed by re-treatment 10 days to 2 weeks after birth of foal. Horses and ponies over 8 months of age should be routinely dosed every 6 weeks.
It is recommended that severely debilitated animals not be treated with this preparation.

Administration:
After removing the cap, the paste should be deposited on the dorsum of the tongue. Introduce the nozzle end of the syringe at the corner of the mouth. Direct the syringe backwards and depress the plunger to deposit the paste onto the tongue. Given in this manner, it is unlikely that rejection of the paste will occur. Raising the horse’s head sometimes assists in the swallowing process. When only part of the paste has been used, replace the cap on the syringe nozzle.

Efficacy:
Critical (worm count) studies in horses demonstrated that pyrantel pamoate administered at the recommended dosage was efficacious against mature infections of Strongylus vulgaris (>90%), S. edentatus (69%), S. equinus (>90%), Oxyuris equi (81%), Parascaris equorum (>90%), and small strongyles (>90%).

Warnings:
NOT FOR USE IN HORSES INTENDED FOR FOOD. Keep this and all medications out of reach of children. FOR ORAL USE ONLY – FOR ANIMAL USE ONLY.

Storage:
Store at 59º to 86ºF.

Indications:
For the removal and control of mature infections of large strongyles (Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus), small strongyles, pinworms (Oxyuris equi), and large roundworms (Parascaris equorum) in horses and ponies. Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitism.

Dosage and Treatment:
Pyrantel Paste is to be administered in a single oral dose of 3 milligrams pyrantel base per pound of body weight. The syringe has four (4) weight mark increments. Each weight mark indicates the recommended dose for 300 pounds of body weight.

Body Weight Range:
up to 300 lbs. = ¼ syringe

how often do u give ur horse this dewormer? and i know u alternate
A shopper on Feb 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm happy to see people rotate and deworm there horses on here. I spend several thousand a year on wormers and medicine. It is crazy when you see someone read the box and say use this twice a year and this one is $1.99 versus this one and y'all worm to much, and they're driving a new truck and trailer. There are different situations when it comes to deworming a horse. The region, weather and horse itself is what needs to be considered. I think and appreciate my horses enough to make sure they are taken care of right. Some make a big deal out of the different prices of wormers and won't pay what is needed. Rotating and using the dewormer that you need to is a lot cheaper in the long run.
I want to know what is the weight for this product. Is it 3.6g or23.6g? Thank you.
Hazel Y on May 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The weight of the package is 23.6g the 3.6g is the dose of pyrantel in the tube. Hope this helps.
Is this product safe for pregnant mares?
crazy2ride on Sep 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: yes
How long after worming will this take affect?
A shopper on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: With this paste wormer I generally see results between 24 to 60 hours. It takes at least 24 hours for it to get into the gut, and usually if worms are present you will find them in the fecal balls around 36-48 hours. We deal with a lot of rescue horses and this is the first wormer I introduce them to.
How many wormers are in a case?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Usually 12
