Cheaper than orignal ones
2nd pair in a few years and these one are thinner leather and the stiching on one of the velcros tore first time i put them on. Other than that fit is the same. These will not last as long last rhe last pair i am sure. They were cheap though and they work well for a trail rider.

Over all happy with the product
I ordered these chaps and I am very happy with them. I measured my calf and according the chart I needed a medium. Turns out they are a little too small. I'm keeping them to see how they hold up but I would recommend orderingredients one size bigger. Other than that I am very hapay with these chaps and look forward to ordering a new pair in the future.

Great for the price & super comfortable
These inexpensive chaps are perfect for schooling and trail. I have had mine for about 3 years as a weekend warrior rider and they are a well worn but still usable. I will need to replace them soon though. They are very, very comfortable! The top of my leather half chaps rubs the inside of my leg, so they collect dust and these are what I reach for instead. Their versatility allows you to wear them over boots, thick winter socks, and jeans, yet you can also cinch them up over riding tights. I noted another review unhappy about them getting dirty - they are definitely utilitarian, which is what I need. If you want "professional" or snappy looks, these aren't for you.

Great Look
These half chaps look very nice on and seem very well made. The brown color is a little darker than pictured. Overall very nice.

Good overall, but ...
I've only just bought these chaps and have had only a few wearings, so the jury's still out, so to speak, on my overall satisfaction. They seem well constructed; the fit is true to size and they fit well over jeans; I like the color and their look. What bothers me is that there's not enough padding over my ankle and/or because they are all leather, they dig into my ankle more than I'd like. This really says more about my thin skin than the chaps themselves, but extra padding is one of the main reasons I like wearing half-chaps. I'm also concerned that the all-Velcro fastenings will quickly deteriorate when they fill with hair and dirt.

This is my second pair
I really liked my first pair but after several years the Velcro pulled off so I ordered a second pair. It took a full month to get my second pair since my order somehow got lost and they had to resend it. That did upset me but I do like my new chaps. I ride western in jeans and the chaps with the zippers just didn't fit over my jeans. The Velcro adjusts well over whatever I wear to ride.

Can you ware with cowgirl boots?
Ashley C on Oct 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wear a lacer boot & the half chaps fit over nicely. The calves of my legs are large enough to put me at the end of the velcro but all in all the chaps are easily manageable for putting on. They seem well made and I've had no trouble with them while riding. I'm not able to wear a pull on boot so I can't tell you if they'd fit over that style. I would think that if you measure round your calves with the boots on and order the chaps by those inches they'd work fine. The length of the velcro should give you enough to cinch to size.
So WHAT is the main reason why anyone is buying these???? For trail riding? For showing? What is the main "purpose" of these as 1/2 chaps??? Why not get a full set of chaps?
Dianne D on Jul 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wear half chaps alot for trail riding or schooling in the ring. I like them because I can slip them on over paddock boots and jeans or Capri pants in the summer. It gives my legs extra protection from brush and briars when trail riding and keeps my legs from slipping if the horse spooks. If you ride English it keeps your legs from being pinched from the stirrup leathers if you don't want to ride with tall boots.
I really want to order a pair of these but I'm not sure where to measure from on my own legs.I measure the thickest part of my calf (14.25 inches), and then I measured from the middle of my ankle to the bottom of my knee, where it bends (12.5-13 inches). The bottom of my arch to the bend in my knee is 15.5 inches. Do I need a kids pair of these or am I measuring from the wrong spots on my leg?

How do I measure for length? I went from middle of my ankle to bottom of my knee and 16" would be Way to big for me unless I'm doing it wrong.
