good product however my horses don't really seem to use it much. a little stiff, could be softer.

Very unhappy with this item.
Item was much smaller than you would imagine for this type of item. The material this item was made of was very questionable.

Too small for my average horse
I expected to receive the item in the photo. I figured I would get something I unrolled and put it on my wall instead I got this 1foot by 1 and a1/2 foot postage stamp. My horse doesn't want anything to do with it. Sorry I cannot recommend this to anybody.

This is an ok product although I wouldn't buy again
The plastic pad is very hard and there is no flexibility in this at all. I found another product (online) that both bends to the attached surface (so you can put it on stall doors) and flexes when the horse rubs against it. That product had little nubs that are rounded and move slightly when pushed. This is such hard plastic that I can see a horse abrading himself on it. The size is also awkward-6" wide would have been better as most posts are 6", not 8". I think they need to redesign this product.

This product will serve it's purpose but...
It is durable but so small!! I could have used about 10 of these and it is my fault as I didn't realize that the picture does not depict the size at all. I feel sure it has the measurements but I neglected to note that when ordering. My horse enjoys scratching on it and he does not get cut or nicked!!

Great product for the most part.
For the money, this is an excellent product, just as described. But, be forewarned that if you plan to attach to any hard wood, you cannot use the screws they give with it. The ones in package are pan head metal screws. No biggie though, I had some wood screws in my spare stuffs.

Dimensions are everything
This product is soooo much smaller than it looks in the picture. Even two of them together is very, very tiny. Quality is only so-so - in my option extremely overpriced for what you are getting. We bought two of them, they came in a huge box full of packing peanuts - took us much longer to even find them than expected. Not worth it.

easy to install & a great product
This is a great addition to the barn. As long as you install it where your horse or horses already like to scratch you"ll be extremly pleased with thiis product. My mare was scratching her neck on the barn walls & getting all flaky. I installed the equine scracther & by the second day she found where it was & went to town on it. She definitely likes it & so do I. I bought 3. 1 to hang up higher for them to scracth their necks & the other 2 to install 1 above the other so they can scratch their shoulders or butts & they seem very pleased. Do your horse a favor & get them 1 of these. You won't be disappointed.

Great Product
The key is, mount the scratch pad in the area that the horses are rubbing.

It works
The first couple of days my horse ignored it after I put it up in the stall, but then after it was 'discovered' she loved it.No more tearing up skin scratching on everything else in the stall.I'm ordering one for each stall.Highly recommend. I put it up on a flat surface so don't know how it works on rounded surfaces.

Why did you choose this?

My percheron loves to rub on stuff. I figured this would help with the shedding in the spring. The funniest part is to watch her rub her forehead and poll on it. She gets the funkiest hairdo after that.

Every night my horse scratches against his water bucket. There is water everywhere, and tail hair on the hook. I wanted to give him a better safer choice. Time will tell if he will use it. I bought a second scratcher for outside.

I chose this because my horse is itching herself on everything and she has injured herself on some of the things she itches on so I wanted a safe alternative for her to scratch herself on.

how big is it??????????

BEST ANSWER: specs say 10.5" x 25". I think you need at least two placed next to each other for an adequate scratching surface. One of our horses loves his scratcher, but another one was afraid to get near it.
