Product Summary:

K&H Thermo-Chicken Heated Pad™

Give chickens a healthy start to life by providing them with needed warmth. The K&H Thermo-Chicken Heated Pad™ helps chickens sustain a healthy body temperature and prevents the pasting that can occur when proper warmth is lacking. Its pre-set temperature and internal thermostatic controls maintain an ideal temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold, allowing it to be used for extended periods of time. It keeps the surface of the bed at 10-15°F above ambient air temperature when mounted vertically. When your pet lies on the bed, it will warm to about 102°F. Corner mounting holes allow for screwing into wood, or it can be wired in place in a traditional chicken coop.

Features:

  • Keeps chickens of all ages warm
  • For use in an enclosed coop only
  • Internal dual thermostat
  • 18" steel capped cord
  • Corner mounting holes (screws not included)

can you put poultry pad on hay and be safe of fire ?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I bought one thinking the same question and I placed in my chicken coop only after testing in the house for how hot it gets... After testing it is just fine... It get very warm but will not cause a fire if bedding covers it in a coop.
I mounted mine on a wall inside the coop. It was barely warm after 3 hours despite the freezing temperature of 20F. How can this ever warm the chickens sitting next to it?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure if it makes a difference but this is designed for chickens to sit directly on it. Also, for the future please do call our customer service if you are ever unhappy or unsatisfied with an item and we are always happy to assist you! 1.888.653.0026
Can it be used with straw in dog house? And does it get warm when animal lays on it ?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes I use in chicken coop with straw... No issues it won't light on fire or anything like that... It's not pressure activated rather warms when turned on... I hooked mine up to a timer so it's only on during nite when temp is low. Hope this helps.
