The stitching on the keeper to hold the strap in place came loose the second day. With nothing to hold the flap, the cribbing strap came off the third day I had it and I cannot find it in the pasture so it cost me about $15 per day!

Too big for my Arabian
They need to make a smaller size for smaller breeds. This one is for a really big horse. You need to have it fairly tight so it doesn't slip. I had to add holes for my Arabian. I used a fleece cover for the poll area. It is also a hassle to take it off and on for feeding.

Nice Leather
Nice leather, but needed to put in more holes to make it work on our smallish cutting gelding.

i need to reasearch cribbing collars...
I am not sure exactly how to safely apply this product. The leather is nice and the collar is well built, but it seems as if my horse is uncomfortable in it. This is the first horse I've ever owned who has cribbed, so I am not familiar with cribbing collars. The amount of pressure you have to put on it to get it to stay in place seems to restrict his airway/throat when eating hay and grain. I probably won't use this product, but I think it might due to my own ignorance about the collar vs. the collar itself

Seems to Work Some of the Time
It seems to be working some of the time. Doesn't always stop mine from cribbing. If I tighten it up another notch when she doesn't stop, she opens her mouth like she's having trouble breathing. Does stop cribbing at this point. Product really needs some sort of instructions as to proper tightness and placement on neck. Doesn't stay in place, rotates around neck.

Excellent!
I did a lot of research on cribbing collars, spent many hours deciding on which was best. EVERY place I went the French collar was rated the highest. The reviews were the best. I am so thankful I went with what most others said was the best because this collar has been excellent. My TB mare cannot crib any more and after wearing it all the time -except when I ride her - she no longer cribs. I do keep the collar on though. She has been wearing it for about 4 months now and the collar is holding up excellently. The only thing I did was oil it heavily when we first got it, I haven't done anything to it since. Also Horse.com is the cheapest place I have found to buy the French collar.

The best for the money
Got a rescued horse that cribbed. I got the above collar and exceeded all my expectations of a cribbing collar. Does work! Price is right!

It Works!
I was disappointed to find that my 4 y/o OTTB was a cribber. Though mild, she would still go to the fence after exercise and meals. I am happy I made the choice to purchase this product. I could see the immediate frustration cross her face when my mare found out she couldn't crib with the collar on. It does not rub, the leather is thick and durable but best of all it doesn't have to be nearly as tight as other styles. Because of this however, it does slip around. But whenever I put it back on, I simply braid a yarn in my mare's mane and then secure it to the cribbing collar to hold it in place. It works!!

BEST ANSWER: This strap is very well constructed however I have a Morgan gelding who is a chronic cribber and I have not been able to find any strap that works. This is the closest to success however it spins around his neck and once the throat part moves, he is back to cribbing. I have to tighten it quite a bit so it won't spin but then it looks like it may be choking him. I have had to go back to the cribbing muzzle which is most effective for him.
