Tough1 600D Waterproof Poly Neck Cover

Designed to be used with Tough-1 Turnout Blankets, this Tough1 Neck Cover features a coated 600 Denier Poly outer shell and 250 grams of polyfill to provide medium warmth and protection from wind and rain. • 250g Polyfill
  • 210 Denier Poly lining prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket
  • Double-sewn heavy nylon binding to secure material and provide additional durability
  • Double-sewn reinforced stress points with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears
  • Adjustable three-snap closure along underside of neck

Measuring Instructions:
Stand your horse as square as possible, and measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.

Washing Instructions:
It is recommended that Tough1® blankets be hand washed in cool water using mild detergent. This may extend the life of the waterproof properties of the blanket.
If washing in a machine, it is recommended that a commercial grade machine with cold water and mild detergent be used. Remove as much loose hair and dirt as possible before washing. This will make it easier for the machine to effectively clean the blanket. Straps should be adjusted to their shortest length or removed, if possible, when machine washing.
If a spot remover is to be used, test on an inconspicuous area.
Blanket should be hung and allowed to air dry.

Horses Turned Outside Without Shelter:
Tough1 Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry. However, if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours, your horse may still get wet, especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or sheet, it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures, even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat. When a blanket is too heavy, the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough, causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
When selecting a blanket, be sure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment, or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number, the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets, or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly. If a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.
For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material, as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing, such as barbwire, or foreign objects, such as nails, will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, so always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Stays on super well and covers better than any neck cover I've owned before. Even when itching or playing, this neck cover has held up for my boy!

We get one or two snow falls each year and my horses choose to stand out in it instead of under the shed, so I bought this product in hopes to keep them more comfortable and let them stay out in the weather if they so choose. Right now it is lying on my living room floor and the cat is certainly enjoying it.

I have a tough one blanket on two horses and needed hoods to match. I don't like full hoods and prefer neck covers. Got a discount on buying two.

Does this hood have straps to attach it to the blanket?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yea it does. My wife loves the neck cover. We went through several other brands that our horses destroyed in short time.
ick cover lined, or is it a summer neck cover?
natasha q on Apr 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is a winter neck cover and therefore too heavy for summer. His neck measurement indicated he should have a small but the base would not close around the lower portion of his neck. I returned it and am patiently waiting for the medium to arrive.
does this hood have to attach to halter with snaps?
A shopper on Jan 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The hood attaches to blanket at base of neck by clips. Blanket must have rings to attach hood. I do not attach the hood to a halter, and it works just fine. I think there is a way to attach with a velcro loop if you want to.
I'm not sure what size to get? I have a Morab who is about 14 hands? He wears a 72 blanket.
Denise E on Nov 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Really just depends on how large the neck of your house is. I have 3 quarter horses that all wear blankets ranging from75 to 78. I have a haflinger who wears a 68 but all my guys required a large. Hope this helps.
What size should I get for my thoroughbred? She's 16.2 hh.

Small- 33"
Medium- 36"
Large 38"
will this neck cover work with a Medium weight waterproof Weatherbeeta blanket?
Blythe D on Nov 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It may, but if it does you probably have to rig it. I've paired neck covers with different brands of blankets for years, but I usually have to tweak it; for example, moving or adding a dee ring, sewing on extra strap length, etc.
