I used this for my mare who was biting my gelding. Works great and she can still do everything but bite.

Sheepskin fleece cover needed for nose padding
After reading reviews I thought I would mention Auto Parts dealers have fleece sheepskin covers for a very reasonable price. I get the seatbelt covers. They come in a pack of two with heavy duty Velcro closures. They are also neat for extra cover on the crib collar where it rubs so the extra one dosen't go to waste.Agree with poster - Miracle Collar doesn't work. The throat plate bends too easily allowing my horse to refit the obstruction to a comfortable "ok to crib again" spot. Just trying to be helpful...

Heavy, one large size
I bought this in the hope of giving my horse an afternoon break from his crib collar. It has so many problems. First, it is very heavy. It comes not with the fasteners as pictured, but with double snaps, which drops the muzzle too low from the halter rings to fit the average horse. Remove and use double snaps elsewhere. I used nylon web spur straps to fasten to an extra halter. The straps that buckle anywhere up the strap. This made it usable. The nose cover is super thin and doesn't provide pad protection to the nasal bone. This structure is like an iron cage, bouncing, heavy and strong so beef up the padding with genuine sheepskin. Use a big water bucket because your horse won't be ale to use most automatic waterers. I recommend a breakaway halter, I used a cotton shoe string thru the strap hole and tied to the buckle end. This because if your horse is like mine he will spend the entire day trying to rub it off on something. I feel like a meanie using it so I don't know...

This product is great
I love it keeps my horse from biting and they can still eat wearing it. I know where to buy more if I need them.

Great for cribbers
This is great for cribbing horses and stops them altogether. A little hard to eat. The only negative is that the clips are too big for smaller heads (young horses). I had to zip tie it to his halter.

Probaby best option.
I have owned two different "cribbers". Cribbers will crib no matter what and while there is no cure, this is the best thing I have found to make it more difficult for them to crib. A bit heavy but horses do not mind it. I have found that to both sides of muzzle the spaces are wider and my cribbers learned how to crib through the sides where bars are open wider. Instead of using their front teeth to grab and crib, they use their side incisors. This would be a great product if manufacturer would do something about the larger spaces on sides of muzzle; therefore, possibly preventing the cribber a way to still crib. P.S. The Miracle Collar is by no means a miracle! Does not work at all.

I am using this as a grazing muzzle and it is working quite well. I tried and returned the grazing muzzle as too hot, not enough air circulation and horrble chemical smell. This cribbing muzzle is open and comfortable on my mare with the soft fleece lining on her nose. It slows down her eating ... she is nibbling rather than scarfing. Only concern is its weight - it is HEAVY - at least to me - she doesn't seem to mind.I don't know how it works as I cribbing muzzle, but I recommend it as a grazing muzzle.

Excellent Muzzle
Although irritated at first my TB quickly acclamated to this muzzle. It's the only I've ever tried, it's a bit heavy & I would like to see a strap on the front to go over the noseband of the halter. I replaced the clips with screw close clips I bought at the home improvement store. The fleece lasted for some time, but now that it's tearing I can't seem to find a replacement, so I'll probably settle with some halter fleece covers that I'll have to adjust to work with the muzzle. My TB eats hay & drinks with no problem, I remove the muzzle when feeding her grain so that she can easily pick up all the small pieces. I had to tighten her halter so that the muzzle doesn't slip over her nose. The weight will cause the halter to cut into the face, I permanently wrapped up the metal pieces of the halter to keep them from rubbing near her eyes & I temporarily padded the areas of the halter causing rub marks elsewhere until she her skin toughened, previously she never wore a halter in her stall, so the overall experience was an adjustment for her. I would recommend this muzzle to anyone. It can take a beating. Unfortunately it's only one size, so smaller equines may not benefit. The muzzle also helps to keep her from eating all the tiny scraps of hay that fall on the ground, so it may be useful for someone whose horse may have sand in their tummies. I also appreciate that the muzzle makes my TB eat more slowly & challenges her to think when she eats, thus keeping her from being bored.

Worked of a little while, the she figured it out
Worked great for a few months. She hated wearing it. It was like punishment for her. She'd run away when she sees us coming with it after we catch her cribbing in her stall. Now if we put it on she's able to crib through it or on it IDK. I wish she would stop.

Didn't work for me.
I put this on a mule that was hurting my mares. He couldn't eat hay with it on. I think he would have been able to eat tall growing green grass with it on but we don't have that. Poor guy got very frustrated and I removed the device. Might be able to use it for a catcher's mask?

I have a filly with an injured muzzle. Hopefully, this will keep her from rubbing it while it heals.

I chose this product because I have a three year old burrow that likes to bite the others too much and I thought maybe this would help stop the teeth on skin contact. The poor other burrows are getting nasty wounds from all the bites. With the more open like muzzle I thought would be more comfortable to wear, rather than the more enclosed nylon ones. I hope it fits!

My horse bites his pasture mate horribly, and I am hoping that this will prevent him from pestering and hurting the other horse. I like the reviews and also the openness of the frame. He shouldn't have any problems eating or drinking. We shall see.

Because it has the fleece on it and it is open enough to allow him to graze. As he is rough on equipment this looks tough and will hold up to the horse.

our horse keeps breaking his grazing muzzle and we are going to put this OVER the grazing muzzle to prevent him from ripping the plastic parts of the muzzle!

How heavy is this?
A shopper on Mar 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I don't know how much it weighs, but it's kind of heavy. I use it when I'm giving my mare a break from her Dare cribbing collar. Dare is the only collar that works, and this muzzle is the only one I've found with no neoprene. She's very sensitive to neoprene, so none can touch her anywhere.
One problem with this muzzle is that the fleece isn't removable for washing. I need to fashion a removable and washable cushion for the top edge.
Would it fit a donkey ?
Richard L on Oct 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: it might be a little large. It fits a large size horse halter and still has some room. I found the one with the nylon sides that is a grazing/cribbing muzzle to fit a little better and that might fit a donkey.
Is metal under the vinyl coating?
Karen L on Sep 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I highly recommend this product - it has proven to be the best muzzle for grazing while preventing cribbing, and last longer than any other product I know of.
What sizes do they come in what sizes do these muzzles come in?
A shopper on Jun 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They all are the same size. My paint mare is 16.2 hands high. She wears a medium size horse halter. I would say it would fit anyone with the same halter size or larger.
Where can I find a replacement fleece cover for the muzzle?
Courtney on Aug 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, we do not carry replacement parts for the item. It is made by JT International and you may be interested in contacting them for a parts order.
