Hey u better change the title! Because they sure aren’t tough 1s anymore!!
Boy they’ve changed this bag - I’ve owned one for years and it started to wear out so loved the one I have, bought 2 New ones they r junk! The horses have wrecked them already and they aren’t even 6 months old. I’ll never purchase another one that’s for sure. I’ll buy cheap net bags they last about the same length of time.

Poor quality. We bought two bags and on both of them The webbing tore after only a few uses): I have bought other brands and they are still in great shape. It's worth paying an extra 10$ for better quality..
The product was great. However, I'm curious why there was an additional small charge to my credit card for both the recent orders I placed.
hay bag
my horse took less than a week to destroy this bag
these are horrible! fell apart even before I got the hay in them
I bought two of these hay bags. The strap webbing is cheap and pulls apart. The snaps are too small to get onto the ring to put it up and the rings fall off. What I thought would be a wooden dowel is actually plastic which bends. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!! DO NOT BUY. I want my money back!
Great product
Love all the D rings, durable, great for trailer, horses don't seem to tear it up!!!
Not for daily use.
Purchased this hay bag to feed our horse. we've been using another borrowed one for a while with no trouble. We bought two so we could fill one while the other was being used. The first one tore immediately within hours. the buckle and straps are light duty and weak, the nylon is not durable. thinking it might be defective we tried the second one and it only lasted a day as well. both are being returned will not purchase these again. I think the only use for these would be feeding hay while tied to a trailer under supervision for short periods of time.
Better than a hay net
I have two of these bags and I'm butying two more. They're big enough for a flake of hay, have square holes in the side for slower feeding and a mesh bottom to drain dust, dirt and keep smaller pieces of hay contained. No more hay falling out of the bottom. I mainly use these when trailering to keep down waste but now we're using them for the paddock because the hay nets get chewed apart. I don't know what people are doing with these to destroy them so quickly but mine are holding up just fine.
Not tough at all
I bought this hay bag and use only in the trailer and the bottom was ripped apart after the second use. Then a few months later the side rip. I do not recommend this product. It is not sewn strong enough on the seams. The seams and edges does not have enough fabric sewn in and Ravens easy.
Not Worth the Money!
I got this hay bag instead of spending the money on a Classic Equine one (college student, trying to save money here). I only used the hay bag in the trailer when traveling to events-never in her stall or anywhere else. After about the 4th use everything started coming undone. All of the stitching, the material around the rod in the top of it fell apart and the rod would fall out. I used it about 4 times in 3 months and had to throw it away. This item one again proved the quality of Tough 1 merchandise.
Not durable
Hay bag is super easy to load. Took it on an overnight trail ride and it didn't last until morning.
Didn't last 2 trailer rides
I bought this because it has a top flap where the horse can't eat out of it. I was thinking for the price it would last longer than my last Tough 1 bag. Nope, ripped at the top corner on the second trailer ride and on the 3rd 20 minute ride the cheap plastic/paper looking pipe they put to make the bag stand up horizontally bent in half and broke. Don't waste your money get a cheap bag, it cant be any worse than my last two $15-30 bags.
cheap material, poor construction.
cardboard dowels on opening - REALLY! - for use with a horse?? snaps that won't open enough to disconnect from their matching ring? Extremely lightweight nylon strapping. One feeding and everything coming apart!
Green Haybags
The green hay bags had a small snap on the strap and plastic dowels through the top. The first time I hung it up, the snap broke and the dowels bent making it unusable. Also not as pictured, it did not have the smaller holes as pictured. But that is not a problem.
inferior quality on the snaps and only one strap used for hanging
I am sorely disappointed in this product. The second time I tried to use it, the snap malfunctioned and has the next two times I tried to use it. There is only one strap and when I went out to the pen this evening, the bag was on the ground because the one snap on the one strap had malfunctioned. I am returning this product and requesting a refund.
Nice feeder bag
I've used this one time, and it's a good buy. Nice size, durable, and easy to hang.
Not Very Tough.
I have used Tough-1 Hay bags in the past but I was disappointed when I received this one. I only paid $15 (after the 25% discount) and the quality was definitely inferior to my previous ones. The material felt flimsy and the hardware was not as heavy duty. I used the hay bag 5 times when the stitching on the side started to rip and one of the "grid" pieces on the completely front ripped. Sadly, I didn't use it right away, so I couldn't return it as defective. Tough-1 isn't very tough, so I'll try a different brand next time. You get get what you pay for, I guess, but I would have liked to get more uses out of it than 5.
I purchased 2 of these and they really could be better made. within 3 days, the dowels had torn the fabric. Would suggest that the ends holding the dowels be reinforced so that they don't tear..Otherwise, not a terrible product, just needs to have the dowel problem fixed. Doubt if the manufacturers tested before putting on market..
Poor quality, poor product
DOES NOT HOLD UP - poor quality, seams ripped, webbing ripped, dowel broke. Picture of product even on packaging shows small squares but product had 8 squares. Coastal Bermuda falls out of large squares so defeats purpose of slow feeder. Buckles had rust marks on straps even though new.
Waste Of Money
My horses had these ripped apart within a week. Going with Nibblenet brand from now on.
hay bag
such an awesome item for my horse!
Not very pleased
I purchased this bag hoping my horse would not wast hay - within the 1st day the dowels at the top of the bag broken!!Not very happy with this product
Awesome Idea but not tough enough
I was really excited when I recieved this hay bag because it holds so much. After 5 uses I got tired of having to fix the clip because it kept coming apart, so I went back to using my old hay net.
hay bag
this hay bag was torn apart at the seams and had holes in it from horses in 3 weeks-not what I expected at all!
HORRIBLE!
I bought this bag, when it came in I thought it looked great! But I've used it for 9 days and the rods that are on the top portion to help it hold open, the fabric has ripped in 3 spots and the pvc pipe that was inside the bag has come out, now this is an eye sore and its ripping little by little everyday.. Poor durability, It's hanging in the lean too with one horse eating from it and it's already this damaged. Will never buy one again from this brand.
Not Just For Horses
I have 3 goats and i think this bag is wonderful. They wont eat hay that falls to the ground so this bag is great because it keeps most of the hay in the bag. I was a little worried about the holes because i have a billy with horns but hes never had a problem with it so far. It does twist around from time to time but since it was designed for horses, not goats, i can't complain. Overall i love this product!
Perfect!
For just $21.99 you can't go wrong with this! I was a little skeptical when I ordered it and fully expected to have to send it back. I use it nearly daily now and my horse absolutely loves it. It's so easy for her to get at the hay, she doesn't get nearly as frustrated as when I had the bag with just the single hole in front.Wasted hay is nearly a thing of the past for me now. Any hay that's on the floor is from the horse dropping it! When I had a hay net I lost nearly a flake of hay every time I used it and the hay wasn't compact anymore and couldn't be put back inside the net. With the bag I can just flip open the top and pop the dropped hay right back in. No wasted hay, no wasted money!I will say the only thing that doesn't work quite so well for me is the strap length. But then, my trailer is an '86 Kingston so the hook is in the ceiling and in an odd place anyways. I had to take a piece of baling twine to elongate it by about four inches. Not too bad, really. One other excellent thing is that because of these dividers, I only need one of these bags for both horses in my two horse trailer. The number of openings all across the front let both horses eat without having to fight over a single hole or swing two bags back and forth all over the place. This bag very nearly pays for itself in the amount of hay you won't lose anymore!
poor design
The bag is poorly designed. Both bags tore from the back side where is was sewed first time used. Now I have to re-sew bag to use it. I like the way it has the hay loaded with a top over the hay but bag is not tough as stated.
Best hay bag
these hay bags are the best. Hold large amounts of hay and easy to fill. Very stable and will not twist around no matter where you put it.

is the botton made of mesh or solid? I like to give my horses rinsed hay, so a mesh bottom is good so the water will drain out.

BEST ANSWER: I consider them big... maybe 3 inches square. I would not consider this slow feed.
