Good soaking boot
Great for soaking abscesses! Sturdy but flexible so it doesn’t break when horse steps on it. Easy to put on and pull off and can be sized for best fit.

Good boot, good price
I got tired of buckets being tipped over and wasting liquid solutions so I purchased a pair of these boots. Great investment for soaking and my horse doesn't seem to mind it any. I originally ordered a pair of large for my 16H QH gelding. They fit fine. Easy on and off. I ordered a second set in size M and both sizes fit fine for soaking purposes though I wouldn't walk him around for any duration in either size. Great for standing, angry stomping, jitter stepping, and soaking. :) Highly recommend.

Works great!
Works great for soaking. I have them in several sizes for all of my horses and pony. I have even had to leave one of them on a horse all day long to protect their hoof from infection. Stayed on great with the correct sizing for his hoof.

OK, but not as good as the original Davis Boot
I have had extensive experience with Davis Boots over the last six to eight years. It would appear the Tough 1 has purchased the patent for the Davis Boot, as the Tough 1 boot is nearly identical in design to the Davis brand. The difference is that Tough 1 has made a lighter product. The side of the boot is thinner than the Davis product. The cinching strap is also thinner, and yet less flexible than the Davis strap. I used the size 0 and size 1 Davis boots; the Tough 1 extra small is slightly smaller than the Davis size 0, and the Tough 1 small is slightly larger than the Davis size 1. Because the Tough 1 cinching strap is stiffer than the Davis brand, it is more difficult to secure on the hoof. Removal is easier, because the thinner Tough 1 boot is more flexible. I can't tell if the sole of the Tough 1 product is as thick as the Davis boot, nor have I had the Tough 1 boots long enough to guess about how long the product will last.

sizing and quantity issues
The product is a nice sturdy boot. The problem we encountered was the size. A medium was just too tight to get on. The next size up was a large which was quite a bit too big. I also had some confusion about quantity. I'm not a horse person, so I was not familiar with ordering hoof boots. I thought that a quantity of 1 meant one pair, so I was quite surprised and disappointed when only one single boot was shipped. If I had known that the quantity was literally the number of boots needed, I would have ordered two. Now I have to pay another shipping fee. I feel that it was unclear and that the postage and handling should be waived for the second boot I need.

Easy to use, excellent for soaking
I purchased this boot for our pony who stepped on a nail. I soaked her hoof in it regularly. It was easy to put on and take off. I thought the buckle was a little difficult to use,but over all is a good product.

Best Medicine Boots Out There
I love these boots so much! They fit my horse perfectly, they don't rub at all, and are comfortable for my horse. A lot of medicine boots are uncomfortable for my mare, but these are perfect. She had the starting signs of Laminitis, so I was told to soak her feet, as perscribed by the farrier. I tried many different medicine boots, but this one was by far the best! They are not heavy on her feet, which I like. Couldn't ask for a better product! Thank you so much www.Horse.com for providing me with the product that saved my horse!

Davis Medicine boot
I've used my Davis Medicine boot on several occations over a 5 year period. It is very durable and works quite well for keeping a hoof either wet/dry or keeping medicine in place on the hoof. When properly fitted, it hasn't caused any rubbing or other issues. The only -small- downside is that it's really stiff in freezing conditions and is more difficult to put on/take off in the winter. I've recommended this boot to several friends.

These are a great value. We used them for our horses when they got white line in their hoof. And it helped protect the hoof and frog from getting anymore bacteria in the hoof. They are much cheaper than buying them locally and we reccomend them for any kind of hoof injury.

Can you give me a sizing chart in inches?
Kay N on Jun 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't have a sizing chart for the boot, but there is one in the product summary. I purchased a small boot for our large pony mare when she stepped on a nail. The boot was great, she wore it for a couple of weeks while her hoof healed. We had her in a dry lot, We ended up getting alot of rain during that period and it was muddy. The boot stayed on and kept her hoof clean. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
How do you determine the size for the boot? By breed? I have a Saddlebred.

Is this only one boot or a pair of boots?
Kelli on Aug 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is just one boot. It is great for soaking or medical use.
Hi. My horse has a 000 shoe size. Would the small work for her or be too big? Thanks!
Eva J on Aug 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Last winter I purchased a small Hoof Saver Boot for our pony. She wears a 00 shoe. Our pony had stepped on a nail. She wore the boot in a small turn out lot. At times it was frozen with snow and ice on the ground. At other times it was muddy. Illinois winter are unpredictable. I checked/ changed her dressing (a preemie diaper) twice a day. She ended up wearing the boot about a month. It did not pull off and it did not rub her leg. I would recommend this boot. But to answer your question, I do not know if it would fit your horse with the size 000 shoe. If your horse needs a boot, I would give it a try. Susan
Can you use this boot for everyday riding?
A shopper on Dec 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don’t believe so. It isn’t a tight fit like the riding boots are.

My horse wears a size 2 shoe, what size do I need?
Pam m on Apr 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi ...I didn't buy the extra large. I boughtt the medium. I have a small, medium and large. My horse is barefoot. We wears a 4 in a Gen2 Mac boot. He had shoes on when he was 2 and I'm thinking it was a size 1 and he grew quite a bit more. The small we couldn't squeeze into. The large swam on him. The medium was perfect. Great product.
