Cheap
The throat snap broke in 3 days. horse.com nicely replaced it for me. The leather is cheap quality, stiff and has that papery/pulpy backing but it's fine for my growing yearling who won't wear it very long. I wouldn't buy this as a nice leather halter for an adult horse, I'd buy something a little better quality.

Halter
I love it except for the curved section of the chin strap. I'm not a fan of that. Quality is excellent however! Joints are well done and hardware is nice quality.

This is a decent quality leather halter. It's not the best quality, however the price is right.

Chin strap buckle is on backwards and throat snap broke after 3 days :(
At first I thought I'd gotten a pretty good halter for the price. Then I realized the chin adjuster buckle was sewn onto the leather backwards. I had to take the strap off and turn it around so the buckle was facing out and not in between the layers of leather. So now the rougher backside of the leather shin strap is facing out which is weird but whatever. THEN, I got to the barn after my horse's 3rd day using this halter and the tension lever on the throat snap was busted! The lever was outside of the hook part of the latch, and spring had broken. Really cheap hardware. I have a message in to horse.com to see if I can get a replacement or exchange. I know it's not a super expensive halter but I would have liked at least a full season out of it before stuff breaks! Anyway, if you have low or no expectations, this halter is fine. Otherwise, spring for something a little nicer.

If you want cheap price, cheap quality - this is perfect
For the price I wasn't expecting great quality, but I thought it would be better than this stiff, Indian leather that smells like a funky house cleaning solution - NOT like leather. I plan to send these back, spend a little more and get a better quality product.

I recommend if you get the size right
Bought this for an inexpensive shipping halter. Supposedly it was an oversize, and previous reviews said it would fit a warmblood or draft cross. Either I have a huge headed horse or it simply doesn't work. The adjustable chin strap needs to be six inches longer to accommodate the draft cross head. Bearing that in mind, the rest of the halter fits fine. Why would they skimp on the length of an "adjustable" chin piece?

Great price. Looks fantastic all 6 I purchased together we're just about dry rotted in one place or another. With in a week throat latch clips broke off or bent Great halter for trailering or short term handling but DEFINITELY NOT for everyday use.

Great halter
This is a great halter. I would definitely purchase another one if needed! You can't beat the price! I bought this halter for my Arabian gelding thinking it would fit just right and I am pleased with it! It does adjust to fit a wide variety of head sizes. I bought the large for my gelding. I also tried it on my draft cross mare and it fits her perfect too! I highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for an affordable good quality leather halter.

I was looking for an inexpensive leather halter to use in pictures, when I opened this halter it was very stiff, I cracked the leather trying to get the strap out of the buckle, I got a regular horse size and have a 15 hand quarter horse and its really big even on tightest hole. It posed up as I messed with it.

I needed a good sturdy halter for my new lease horse, Blake. This one seemed quite sturdy and the reviews were good. Plus it was at an affordable price, better than competitors at $80.

I have an Arab and I'm worried that the horse size halter may be to big. What size should I order?
Melanie M on Jan 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We recommend using an halter that currently fits to measure first.

To determine halter size:
- Measure from the left square
- Around the head
- To the right square.

My horse is a big headed QH, he is on the middle hole in a weaver nylon large halter, so would the large horse be a good choice? And I'm buying one for a friend and we are hoping o find a size that would sorta fit both her 13hh pony and her 15hh mare who has a small head, I was thinking the horse size because the ponies normal halter is a average size but it is slightly big for him but we could put more holes in it.
A shopper on Mar 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This halter seems to fit true to size from my experience when I bought it. A large size would be more for a warmblood in my opinion. However, I've found that leather halters tend to run larger in size than what you would expect. I wouldn't order a size up for either of those situations unless the horse is still growing.
If the halter does not fit, is their a send back and refund?

What would be the best size for a miniature donkey?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These are made for horses, but if it fits a donkey at all, it would probably be the suckling size.
Do you have a Cob size?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We do not, but the Yearling size (approximately 500-800 lbs) is often used as an equivalent.
