how long does it adjust to?
amanda P on Oct 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: when it is adjusted all the way out it measures 52 ½” from the top of the strap to the top of the foot pad. There are 10 adjustment holes and when adjusted in the shortest hole it measured 47”.
What is it made of? Is the loop stiff or flexible cord? I am looking for something safe I can take on the trail.
C C on Oct 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The strap is nylon, the stirrup bottom is stiff nylon. Should be just fine for trail mounting. And very easy to pack. Plus, if it is too long, you can wrap the length around the horn if you need to. I've used it several times and it does the job fine. I have tried others I wasn't impressed with.
How does this work? Do you put your leg you normally mount with in it and pull up until you reach your stirrup? I’ve had knee replacement and need some help because I can’t bend the knee as well.
Pammy on Dec 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Pammy, Think of the aid as the first rung of a step ladder. The Tough-1 Aid, once secured to your saddle horn (or cantle), will be hanging behind the stirrup leathers and close to the ground and therefore easier for you to put your RIGHT foot into. The Left foot is placed in the saddle stirrup as you normally would do to mount. If you've trained your horse to be mounted on the off-side, then of course, you would switch feet...first left, then right. Mounting is hard on the horse because of the shift in his balance, so you'll want to make your mount in one smooth action or use a 3-step mounting block. Hope this helps you to mount safely.
How do you attach this to an english saddle?
Ann M on Nov 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure how to attach to an english saddle, but I can tell you not to go with this mounting aid, it simply does not work. There is no way possible to mount with this, because it just goes up under the horse and you cannot get to the sturrip this way. I am pretty strong and could not use this. Keep looking!! Don't waste your money on this one!!
