Nice hack, great price
Love this little hack for my speed mare. She has a smaller head, so it was difficult to find a hack that is narrow enough to keep the shanks from flipping out. This one fits perfectly and she is very responsive to it. The only negative is the cable shank hobble across the bottom wore through after about 1 1/2 years. I fixed with some cable and clamps from the hardware store, but it was cheap enough to buy another and keep the fixed one as backup.

AMAZING
Absolutely love this hackamore! I have a little QH mare that is hates bits and has a very light mouth... she works amazing with this hackamore she turns sharp and tight and just works beautifully! And she stops very nicely. Love this hackamore so much and highly recommend!

Great buy for the price
I have tried this on 2 of my horses and they both responded well. It is a little big for them, as they have small bridges, but still works well. I think as it is used it will shape to their faces better. The rope nose is softer than others I have used.

I adore this product but..
The noseband is HUGE. My little guy has a small head (even for an Arabian), but this noseband was even too big for my Paint, who's got a super heavy jawline, and thick nose.

A Horse Favorite
The horses seem to really enjoy working in this hackamore. From large heads to small dainty heads, it fits them all. Seems to give the horse just what they individually need, I've had it make really bendy ones a little stiffer, and really stiff ones more bendy. Use mainly for trail riding, but it works great on our barrel horses as well. Gives a nice light solid stop, and they turn well with it. Bought a second one because we did have a horse that had to have a hackamore due to an accident with a bit, and everyone was impressed with how well he responded to it.

Better than I thought
I pondered different types of hackamores and being skeptical I ordered this one, being $15 I thought it wasn't going to be all that great.. I was wrong!! Keep in mind this is not soft rope, it is more like lariat, it is stiff at fist but softens with time. I have been riding bitless most of my horsey career and I needed something with a little more woah for my silly boys on the trail. This has just enough brakes with built in power steering ;) However it was a little to big for my dainty OTTB's head, but fit my warmblood to a tee. I suggest either padding it up a little or buying an arab size if you have a small headed horse. I am pleased to say my search is over for the perfect hackamore. I would suggest this to anyone and everyone.

The horse I am currently riding and showing is very picky when it comes to bits so by trying a friends hackamore I came to conclusion that I needed to invest in my own just like hers! I am very happy with product and if needed in the future I will purchase this hackamore again!

Beautiful brown finish that looks great with my show tack! Not much stopping power and my horse is able to blow through his shoulder with it on but it is perfect for trails and leisure rides. My horse looks forward to wearing it!

It's not harsh and my horses respond very well without a bit in their mouth. Easy, no pulling on the mouth and great for trail riding or barrel racing

Love the way this hackamore works on my barrel mare. Great price and quality
PAUL R on Sep 25, 2015
Certain horses ride much better without a bit.
Sharon T on Aug 17, 2015
This is my second. As I've found with most hackamores, the twisted wire eventually frays. However since this one has a plastic cover, it took a heck of a lot longer to fray. For the price, it is totally worth it for me to just replace it. Great trail riding bit for someone who likes to let their mount graze from time to time. Riding is relaxation time for me and my horses; I want them to have as much fun as I am. :)

Great for experienced horses, changing a horse we have from a bit to a hackamore

Have also used this product and found it more than adequate.
Patricia P on Sep 22, 2014
I already own one little s. It works well for my horses. They respond well and really seem to respect this little hack. The problem I have is that I use this on 2 of my horses. This addition will let me and my family ride both of the horses at the same time! This is a great price!!
I am hoping that the quality is comparable to the "name" brand.

I have a barrel horse in training that doesn't like bits. Has anyone used this on a barrel horse? Does it work well?
Katie J on Jul 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am also training my barrel horse and she hates bits/has some teeth issues. She responds so well with this and still turns the barrels better than she did before. She now doesn't fight with her head and has les behavior issues! It really depends on how your horse works in it but it is a great hackamore to try. The noseband on this one is very stiff and hard so I wrapped it with vet wrap.
were do you attach the reins?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: the reins go in the circles at the bottom and the headstall attaches at the curve off of the rope noseband. Love this for horses that don't need heavy control.
is the rope a waxed rope?
A shopper on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's a waxed rope that you may want to put vet wrap over if it's too harsh.
Is the chain detachable?
A shopper on Aug 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, it holds on the hackamore and keeps it from slipping around. You don't to have to jack it up tight I do 2 fingers in between the chain and the horses chin as a good reference point.
how do you put it your headstall?
A shopper on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It attaches to the big curved piece between the chain and the noseband. I found a picture online but links can't be used here. Look up S Hackamore sets at hought dot com. Hope this helps.
What hackamore will fit a Percheron?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This hackmore would be too small, I would use a side pull, or a Dr.cook cross under. A lot of hackamores don't fit draft breeds.
What is the length of the rope on the nose band? Is it 11" or 12 1/4"?
A shopper on Apr 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Rope is 12"+. Hope this answers your question. :)
Can I paint this to another colour? Like black instead of brown.
Terrance Z on Jan 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, painting this would not work well.
