Great product, great price
Loved it! Had to adjust it on the smallest size for my arab, but works great without irritating the horse. Looks exactly like the photo.

Great value
Gentle hackmore for that easy to handle, horse that needs a bitless bridle with a little more whoa. My trail horses are much happier packing begginers along the paths with these short shanked soft fit hackmore. Highly recommend. I own 6 and find they are very durable.

Great hack even for us English riders...
I have been regularly using this hack since early August. My only issue was the color (pic is true to color - very light) since my jumper tack is all Havana. Got out the oil (Fiebings Prime Neatsfoot Compound) and BAM instant leather darkening! I was SO EXCITED. It got so soft and so perfectly dark I about lost my noggin. Now, after just two applications of oil, the hack matches my tack perfectly. The best part? Everyone wants to buy it off me. (Of course I shared my secret with my friends!)So, just a warning, if you have light brown/chestnut/oakbark tack, don't go the dark oil route. If you have Havana and (like me) have been frustrated trying to find something of decent quality that doesn't make your credit card cry, just buy this and a little tub of oil.Regarding the durability, the dang thing looks perfectly new after a thirty-second rub down. The fleece is plump and soft, the hardware is excellent and the leather is tough. You just can't regret it, especially for the price!

Great Hackamore
The hackamore is a bit stiff, but that will change as it gets used more. It gives our Tennessee Walker more control and allows us to communicate with her more effectively.

Great deal
This hackamore is a great buy. It's affordable priced, but it feels very high quality.. I only gave durability a 4 because I don't yet know about that, but from the feel and look of it, I expect it to last.

Great Hackamore!
I love this Hackamore! My stubborn Paint that doesn't like to stop loves this piece and will stop on a dime. This piece works really well and the horses i ride seem really responsive to this particular Hackamore.

Bought another!
I wrote a review for this hackamore in 2012, and recently had to purchase another one for my mare (irresponsible rider friend left her bridle where it could get ruined) and I am more impressed with this one than I am with the last one I purchased! It is so nice and pliable, right from the package, easy to adjust, and a BEAUTIFUL golden brown color. Fleece is thick and fluffy. Will definitely buy again if I need another!!

We love it!
We purchased our first Hackamore over a year and half ago and chose this one because of the price to see if it would help out our little mare with a mouth issue. We soon found it being used on all of our other 5 horses to see if it was as effective on them. All the horses are seasoned trail horses and really needed little bit control. It worked so well and the horses seemed so happy we have purchased one for each horse. Even my 5 y/o niece and 7 & 9 y/o nephews use it them with great confidence and pride. It is durable and adjusts easily and we love the fleece lining that is gentle on the nose.

Great hackamore!
I use this hackamore for trail riding and it's really great! It's got a nice weight to it not to heavy or light just right for my mare. The leather on it was slightly darker than pictured but that's not a big deal to me I actually prefer the slightly darker leather anyway. I get a great response from my mare with it. It fits her tiny Arab head just fine even though I do have to use it on the very last holes none of the straps get in way of anything. Overall good hackamore, nice cushiony fleece and a good quality hackamore. I like it alot!

have one and need another one

I have a fiesty little arab who doesn't like bits. I have been trail riding here in a rope halter and she does ok but I don't have faith in the stopping power of the halter. Hoping this short shanked hack does the trick and my kids can feel confident riding her as well now.

We have a paint that just goes bonkers with any bit in her mouth. Been using a similar Hackamore on her for about a year now, and she behaves much better. Our old one finally broke (while riding on the trail. That was a bit interesting.)

I don't own a hackamore, and a new rescue horse I acquired apparently was ridden in one. Since I don't know how it was going to go, I didn't want to spend a lot on something I could possibly end up not using.

I have a problem with it rolling around the nose any suggestions?
Murphy on Jul 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: possible solutions. First make sure it fits tight enought on the nose and above the soft nostral tissue. Also use winder straps on the sides, we attach ours with bit hangers onto the alters. Sometimes I have had to bend the nose band to shape it better for a smaller nose horse. Oil it heavy if you don't mind it getting darker and maybe strap it on to a coffee can or something smaller if your horse is really small to get it to shape to the nose better. Good luck!
This hackamore works well on my quarter horse mare, but the sides of the headstall run just below and too close to her eyes, and even more so when I pull back on the reins. I've tried lengthening the hackamore nose-band so the it sits lower (vertically, not horizontally down her face), but the sides of the headstall are still too close to her eyes. Any suggestions or how to fix this? I'm using a western browband headstall with a throatlatch.
Joanne L on Sep 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: i would try lowering the browband closer to the horses eye and have the throatlatch pretty snug to better hold the headstall in place. also your chin strap may be too loose and making too much play when you pull the reins.
Since it is a hackamore you can snug-up the chin strap without causing discomfort to the horse.
Is it good for English also?
A shopper on Aug 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The answer is yes and no. I ride dressage and I use it on my mare. She has a tooth issue and cannot have a bit in her mouth. This hackamore works great, and we both love it. However, it is not legal for showing in dressage. I don't think it is legal for English (hunt seat) either. It may be legal for Jumpers, (I think other hackamores are). However, it is not legal in Hunters. So, if you want it for pleasure riding English, yes. I find that I can effectively ride dressage with it. If you want to show your horse in it, the answer is no.
How long are the shanks?
Cindy B on May 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Cindy, mine is out in the barn but off the top of my head I'd say about 3 inches or so. They are the shortest I have come across. Its a nice mild hackamore my mare does really well in it.
Which English hackamore bridle will this go best with?
Nikki C on Dec 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Light leather hack that can be easily stained to match any bridle
Are the shanks on this stainless steel, or are they something else?
Rachel W on Dec 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I cannot say for sure what metal it is because I cannot find any engraving on it saying what it is. However, I have had mine for some time now and the metal has not discolored, stained, rusted, bent or shown any other undesirable characteristics. In fact, it still looks quite classy on my horse. The metal is heavy and quite substantial like good bits I also have. I like that the noseband can be adjusted in addition to any adjustments I can make on the headstall to which I attached it. That adjustment helped me to get it in the proper position on my horse for his comfort and my adequate control.
Do you think this could be adjusted to fit up to 12" for the nose?
Cindy B on May 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is sized for average horses approximately 800-1100 lbs, if your horse is in that weight range.
Does it come in different colors?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We only offer this item in one color. However the leather color may vary from light brown to light tan.
does this come in a darker brown?
does this only come one color of leather?
randy on Apr 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this item only comes in this light colored leather.
