Junk
If I had known this bit was made by Tough-1 I would not have even ordered it. Terrible quality, sharp edges, crooked port, and an unfinished weld. The hinges of the port are obnoxious and come down below the mouthpiece almost like a pronged bit. The picture is not accurate.

love this bit!!
My old bit kept locking up on me because it was metal on the sides and not stainless steel. This new bit is great! I strongly recommend not using the metal for this reason. Buy the stainless steel!

Great Bit
Really nice bit, have a new mare I bought and she was just pushing threw anything I put on her and made everything a fight. But once I put this on her she really changed! Nice natural head set and kept her head low with a small amount of asking. For an advanced rider for sure, next to no rein pressure if you know what you're doing.

It works!
My horse was horrible at stopping quickly. He's been to a trainer, and I work with him daily, but his stops where not great when hes nervous. With this bit he remembers to stop immediately. It's not too harsh. He took to it right away. My favorite so far.

Great, great, great!
I have a young paint horse whom I don't believe was started the best way (bought her last year). She is super headstrong, and even my trainer's (who uses this on his stud for reining) girlfriend (who also trains)said she had WAY to much control of her head. I work with her on the ground every time I ride, but she was still just too headstrong and didn't respect me at all in the saddle. I was recommended this bit and BOY what a great transformation! She tries to push through it, but she soon finds out she can't. She stops almost on a dime now, and she respects it a lot more than a regular snaffle! Our training is going a lot smoother now, and it's more fun now that I feel secure in having control of her. I recommend it to anyone!

A different Horse!!
I bought a TWH about 6 months ago. Until then, the previous owner was using a moderate/aggressive bit in her mouth. As a fairly novice rider, I wasn't comfortable using an aggressive bit in fear of being too aggressive myself. That said, I read about a lot of different bits and decided to try a Mikmar. Generally speaking, it was a 'good' bit but I never felt like I had the control I needed. Particular when it came to collection and stopping.A friend of mine has been using this bit on his (2) QH with great success so I decided to give it a try and bought one. I started by introducing her to the bit in the round pen. She was immediately comfortable with it in her mouth and in a matter of 5 minutes was responding quickly to the bit with almost effortless queues. I am far less harsher with this bit than I needed to be with the Mikmar! The before and after was remarkable and immediate!! Her stops are responsive, her collection is incredible, she's driving from her hind quarters which transformed her gait from slightly below average to fast and smooth. I went from considering to sell her, to buying this bit for $20 and wouldn't sell her for any other horse! Best investment I've made so far.

Awesome product
This bit works really well. I use it for my paint in showing and he loves it. before with a snaffle it took a lot to set his head, but now I barly have to use any pressure. I us it when i am training for dressage and it works great9not in shows of course.) The price is great too, it is usually $60 other places. I tell of of my friends about how great it is. Thanz state line!!

My trainer is using this on my horse, she advised me to purchase one like bit. He is coming a long great. He responds to the bit. Better than the O-ring snaffle I was using.

Is the port jointed also, otherwise called a 3 piece jointed bit?
Brenda E on Aug 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm just a retired cowboy so I don't know if there's a true name besides what you've stated. We called them three piece or mule lips. Hope this helps...
Does the port move or is it stationary?
Violet H on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It hinges at the cheek and at the bottom of the port.
Are the shanks on this bit solid, or do they swivel?
Charlcie H on Nov 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They swivel. It's a good bit for the price. Using it on a mule and she likes it.
how do you put this bit on a bridle?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: In this photo, the port of the bit loops to the top so the two top rings fit onto each side of the bridle cheek straps. The bottom of the bit has the longer fork and the angle of the fork always turns inwards towards the horses neck; this is where you connects your reins. I use a curb strap on mine where it connects to the bridle. This is a gentle bit that works well on every horse I have seen it used on including those horses that resent the bit, throw their head or are usually unresponsive to the bit.
5"?
A shopper on May 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this bit has a 5 inch mouth.
Is this a 1 inch correction bit?
mollie m on Apr 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes this bit has a 1" port.
what's the mouth pcs size also what's the port height?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The product description shows a stainless steel with copper 5" mouth, 7 " cheeks, and a 1 1/2" port.
I need a western bit with a 5 1/2 inch mouth. I can't sort by bit size on your site, can you assist?
Maribeth P on Sep 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Most bits are available in a standard 5 inch mouth only, so there would be no size choices. If there is more than one mouthpiece size a list will show, for example the Korsteel French Link Full Eggbutt Bit (item E006210) or the Myler SS 7 Flat Shank Low Port Barrel Narrow (item E013056).
what is the width of this bit? The horse I'm buying this for has a big head and standard bits are too narrow where the bridle connects to the bit.
Valerie L on Apr 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Stainless steel with copper 5" mouth. 7 " cheeks. 1 1/2" port.
