Product Summary:

Western Vaquero Headstall

A beautifully trimmed out headstall with a great old-style look. Many browband style headstalls look bulky and large on a smaller or more refined head. Mustang's braided browband headstall is small enough in diameter to look good on a variety of horses. Tightly braided durable brown nylon is embellished with contrasting tan nylon buttons and trim at browband corners. Nickel plated hardware. The perfect headstall for the Mustang Vaquero roping rein.

Features:
  • Old-style look
  • The look accomodates a variety of horses

Great Headstall for the Price!
Bought this for a big bay geld, looks good & the reins have a nice feel in the hand. The top piece is a little light & will likely wear out first but is easy to replace. I paired it with a mild curb grazer, matching reins & chain curb. Take a look.

Inexpensive & Attractive
This is an attractive, albeit flimsy, rope headstall. It is well worth the price (got it on sale for under $10), but it IS an inexpensive item, so don't expect higher-level quality or you'll be disappointed. We got the brown/tan colour and it looks quite sharp on our palomino gelding. Got the Horse size and it fits our slightly larger headed gelding with ample room. Would probably look even nicer on a horse with a more refined head. It is easily adjustable to fit since the buckles' prongs can basically go through any area of the headstall's woven material (there's no specific holes to match up to). The throatlatch is especially meagre: essentially a string. Would not use this for a horse who rubs his head a lot or is known to pull a bridle off -- doubt it would hold up to that. Overall a nice, lightweight, simple, rope headstall.

Poor Quality
Used it 2 times under lite use and it broke. Seams came unraveled. Poorly made.

Good for a showy parade bridle
This is my second one of these headstalls. Made the should have known better mistake of tying up my mare at the trailer just long enough to grab my rain jacket. Sure enough something spooked her, she pulled back and broke it. The nylon parts didn't break, just the buckles. Not the bridles's fault, could have been one of my nice leather ones.

I wanted this to be good
The headstall is beautiful. The decorative sections are strong and well-built.The part that goes over the ears to connect the decorative pieces is very flimsy material. BARELY suitable in strength to be used on a horse. The buckles are cheap and weak and easily come undone if the horse rubs his head. With the right strap material and good buckle, this could have been a favored piece of tack for years to come. I don't expect it will last more than a few months and might even fall apart while in use.

Works from trail riding to barrel racing!
I bought this bridle over a year ago to match the reins and I am still really happy with it! I've used this bridle on a few different horses for different things and it has held up just as good as a leather bridle. It fits both smaller horses and larger. Used this on my gelding for gymkhanas and also for your average trail ride. He seems to be quite comfortable in it and it fits him perfectly! Would love to get more colors of this same bridle!

Flimsy
I expected it to be a legit headstall, but it seems like it's just something I could make myself with some rope. I'm not really satisfied with it.

Product well worth price
I would not use for heavy schooling, as the material is extremely thin, however, I could see that by the picture. I bought two of these headstalls for two dead-broke trail horses and they work wonderfully. Will not fit Arabian,Cobb, or a smaller head breed well. Would buy again just to have extras for loose bits.

Love to Ride in the High Country and Nylon is very Durable. Also Good for Children to Learn with so no broken reins.

I just purchased a rope hackamore for my 26 yr old mare as she no longer wants to accept a bit (her mouth has been checked and there is not a thing wrong!), so I want to keep as light of tack on her as I can and this seemed like a perfect option... Got to try to keep the old girl as comfortable as I can!

Good price. There's a headstall like this at my barn. It's used by a school pony so it's used on a daily basis. It's held up really good. So I thought I should try it out for myself.

Why won't it let me order the purple? Purple's my theme on my mare, and I really want to get this bridle.
A shopper on Dec 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The purple color is sold out.
why can't i get the western vaquero headstall in purple?
Jenny on Oct 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: item is available in brown/tan, black/tan and burgundy/tan
you just more colors to choose from in the bridle. I own 2 of these and love them. But would like to see more colors for the bridle like you have in the reins. So can you get more colors in the bridle to match the reins?
suzanne b on May 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We currently offer Brown/Tan and Black/Tan. We can certainly see if more colors are available.
