All the horses love it!
One particular horse at Tecolote loves this bit. He is a rescue pony that has half of his tongue cut off, so obviously bits can be very painful to his mouth. First we used a similar bit with a slightly higher port, and he kept throwing his tongue over the bit and crunching at it and throwing his head around. We changed the bits with this one, and he instantly relaxed. He responds pretty well to this bit too! Highly recommended!

Works well if used in the right hands.
As any leverage bit, especially a 6in shank, it can be disasterous in the wrong hands. This works well on my mare who needed a step up from a swivel snaffle shank. This put a very nice feel on her and she happily moves off of a twitch of the fingers. It's very durable and has a great price.

good...
I bought this bit hoping for something better that I had origanally had on my bridle(a d ring snaffle). I had put this on her, and it hurt her mouth. I have to switch reins when I use it.

totally recommend it!
If anyone wants to know, this is a 6 inch bit. Since it is metal, it does get very cold in the winter so you need to warm it up before you ride. But It is strong, cheap, and I really like it!

Wonderful Great Working Bit
I bought this bit for my Arab mare and she just loves it. It is nice and soft in her mouth. My mare is very sensitive and I love this bit I have only had her in it for less than a month and it has improved her head set and I have had really nice solid rides in this bit at the shows. The price is also wonderful for the bit. so much better than others that I have used.

Can I get a 5 1/2 inch wide bit?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes...you can. I have always used this type of bit. Its very easy on the horses mouth. The shanks can be longer but I don't care for them. In UN experienced hands they can do damage to the horses mouth. Two fingers on the curb strap.
How wide is this bit and how long are the side shanks?
Jan S on Aug 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: On an average size low port western grazing bit, the shanks are 7 inches long with a 5 inch wide mouthpiece.
Would this bit work for my qh. His teeth seem to get sharp in just 4-5 months and starts throwing his head while riding. He chomps and flails his tongue also. When his teeth are done he stops. But would a bit like this maybe be softer on his cheeks rather than the full cheek dogbone snaffle ?
Annie on Feb 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes it would help alot. Most quarter show with his kinda bit. Me as well.. I have a questoin for you you probaly just had his teeth floated, hes who does you r work for the teeth ever checked for wolf teeth if he has that can be main part of your horses problem. As far as this bit I highlt recommened it. I use one lot my horses mainly show pleasure horses. If i can help you any more . My name Tim Whitehead I run and train Phantom Hollow Ranch. Hope i was able to help you. Sinc, Tim

Some bits have copper mouth piece, Does this style bit come with copper and what the advantage of copper vs regular like this?
lori a on Oct 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, this bit does not have a copper mouthpiece. Horses are said to like the taste of copper, so they are supposed to be happier and salivate/have a softer mouth.
