It's not harsh and my horses respond very well without a bit in their mouth. Easy, no pulling on the mouth and great for trail riding or barrel racing

Certain horses ride much better without a bit.

Love the way this hackamore works on my barrel mare. Great price and quality
PAUL R on Sep 25, 2015
This is my second. As I've found with most hackamores, the twisted wire eventually frays. However since this one has a plastic cover, it took a heck of a lot longer to fray. For the price, it is totally worth it for me to just replace it. Great trail riding bit for someone who likes to let their mount graze from time to time. Riding is relaxation time for me and my horses; I want them to have as much fun as I am. :)

were do you attach the reins?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2014
Best Answer: the reins go in the circles at the bottom and the headstall attaches at the curve off of the rope noseband. Love this for horses that don't need heavy control.

Is the chain detachable?
A shopper on Aug 22, 2014
Best Answer: No, it holds on the hackamore and keeps it from slipping around. You don't to have to jack it up tight I do 2 fingers in between the chain and the horses chin as a good reference point.

I have a barrel horse in training that doesn't like bits. Has anyone used this on a barrel horse? Does it work well?
Katie J on Jul 28, 2014
Best Answer: I am also training my barrel horse and she hates bits/has some teeth issues. She responds so well with this and still turns the barrels better than she did before. She now doesn't fight with her head and has les behavior issues! It really depends on how your horse works in it but it is a great hackamore to try. The noseband on this one is very stiff and hard so I wrapped it with vet wrap.

how do you put it your headstall?
A shopper on May 12, 2015
Best Answer: It attaches to the big curved piece between the chain and the noseband. I found a picture online but links can't be used here. Look up S Hackamore sets at hought dot com. Hope this helps.

is the rope a waxed rope?
A shopper on May 10, 2015
Best Answer: Yes, it's a waxed rope that you may want to put vet wrap over if it's too harsh.
