Good product; too expensive
This is a great product to keep wounds and fetlocks dry; but the can does not hold a lot for the price.I often use substitutes, like Desitin or blu-kote, to save money during prolonged wet weather,.

AluShield - spray on bandage
A great product. My mare had backed up to something and ended up with a 3 inch slice on her hind-end. It's next to impossible to get any type of tape to stick and using salves just melted out. With her tail swishing she would knock all medications off. I found the AluShield and thought it was worth a try. Best decision I made. It protected the sore and medicated at the same time. Healed up very well. Definitely recommend it.

Great Product!
We use it on a mare that has a sensitive girth area, especially when she starts to get her winter coat or shed out. We spray a little area on both sides where the girth goes, and it keeps her from getting bad rubs. :) Great stuff!

This product has quality benefits
I have used this product for many reasons. It is a superior air bandage especially during summer months for wound control. I have a horse with summer itch. This product keeps the sores clean, dry and fly free. The sores actually start to heal. You can use it in difficult places like elbows and hocks. It works better than ointments. It does not attract dirt or sawdust. I know its kind of pricey but in the long run it is worth every penny. I usually only have to apply it once a day.

Great product for wounds
We call this liquid duct tape. I have used it on a various wound types and always have good results. This was initially recommended to me by a university vet clinic. I always have this in my barn.

First aid must have
Especially good in very humid climates where other products run off . Seals off wound- protection like a liquid bandage.Great for hard to reach areas and places that make bandaging impossible.I will have this on hand always.Be careful -some horses may spook from rattle in can, when shaken to mix contents as directed.

To treat crapes from laying down and it takes a bit more effort with a hind leg completely bandaged to get up.

The reviews on this item were good, and I like to keep something like this at the barn and in my horse trailer in just in case I need it for small cuts or scrapes. So I thought I would give it a try.

I love this for my cows and donkeys especially, but use it on certain wounds on horses, too. Lasts long and keeps a protective barrier like a bandaide.

Can this product be used on dogs?
Patty on Jun 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Manufacturer, Neogen Corp., advises that "AluShield is used in wound treatment for dogs
and cats in which oxygenation of the wound is desired, but a bacterial barrier is needed."
Is this safe for use in foals? Or how old should a foal be before use?
A shopper on May 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have raised two foals. If needed I would definitely use this on them. If they are not familiar witha spray can/bottle you may want to use a sprayer wtith water first so that yo do not scare them. As long as the woud is not deep, it shoudl work great. Good luck..
What are the Ingredients?
A shopper on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Aluminum Powder: 40 mg per gram.
And here is a link to the MSDS Sheet. Section 3 lists the ingredients.
