HOTT WASH PORTABLE UNITS QUESTION & ANSWERS
What powers or runs the Hott Wash®?
The Hott Wash® works from Standard Electric Outlet, Portable Generator or Truck Inverter on your motor vehicle to giving you the opportunity of using the Hott Wash® in remote locations. All units use 12.5 AMPS of electricity & 1500 Watts Heating Elements. All units use as much electric as a hand held hair dryer.
How long does it take to heat & recover?
TEMPERATURE SETTINGS & HOW THE UNIT OPERATES: Equipped with adjustable thermostat control under the blue front cover, you can set the temperature range from 65* to 145* degrees. First tank takes about 15 plus minutes to heat depending on temperature of ground water. Example: In Florida they heat in about 4-5 minutes.
The Hott Wash® instructions state to set temperature 20* degrees above what you want your working water temp. Example: when the unit set is at 110*degrees you will maintain 80* to 90* degree water temp. The way we are able to give a horse, or dog a complete shampoo bath is we normally give them a military type bath. Example: We rinse the animal off with water then we wash & shampoo the animal in 2 or 4 sections. That small amount of time you put the hose down between shampooing is enough time for recovery.
Do I need a Hot Water Hose?
Yes. A cold water garden hose is OK for the in coming feed line to the Hott Wash® but you should use a Hot Water Hose on the hot water outlet side due to the strength & insulation the hot water hose offers. If you use a cold water on the Hot Water Side of the Hott Wash® your cold water hose will fail in a short period of time.
Does the cold water stay on all the time when using the unit & does the unit create its own water pressure?
1. Your cold water hose stays on all the time the unit is in use so the Hott Wash® automatically fills as you use it.
2. The Hott Wash® Does NOT create its own water pressure.
Will the Hott Wash® Freeze in cold weather?
The Hott Wash ® can be used in cold weather but you MUST DISCONNECT ALL HOSES, TIP THE UNIT ON ITS BACK TO DRAIN WHEN FINISHED USING THE UNIT. Note: Rule of thumb, if you’re in coming water hose is going to freeze then the Hott Wash® will freeze. When the unit is empty of water you can store the Hott Wash® in the barn or garage in freezing temperatures with no damage to the Hott Wash®.
Can I Use an Extension Cord?
Only a 12 gauge (or heavier size) Heavy Duty outside electric cord must be used with the Hott Wash® if or when needed. Using a smaller gauge electric cord will cause the Hott Wash® not to work properly & may result in permanently damaging the Hott Wash®
Electric Safety Switch: The units are equipped with reset switches to protect against electrical hazards, electrical storms, power surges, & high temperature limit shut off /reset device. (See directions for proper resetting of Reset Switch.)
What about hard water or minerals in the water?

TIPS ON GETTING MORE HOT/WARM WATER OUT OF THE HOTT WASH®
1. Fill 2 to 4 buckets ¾ full of cold water, Set temperature of Hott Wash® to 145* degrees & top all buckets with 1or more gallons of hot water. After using your buckets to wash you can spray off your washing job with the recovered Hott Wash® unit.
2. Set up Hott Wash ® & adjust thermostatic control to desired setting & turn on unit. Prepare your horse to ride (grooming & tacking up takes about 15 -20 minutes). Before you go to ride, spray all the hot/warm water from the Hott Wash® into a bucket & cover with a towel. When you return the bucket of water will be very warm & the Hott Wash® will be recovered. You now start off with 8 gallons of warm / hot water.
3. When Hott Wash® is ready, start by using the spray nozzle & rinse your horse with 1 to 2 gallons of warm water. Now shampooing & rinsing your horse in sections. Example; ¼ sections, giving the Hott Wash® 2 to 4 minutes between sections will enable the unit to have a little recovery time & let you finish the bath.
Apply the above to many applications: small animal, boating, camping, recreation, motorcycles, ECT. |
