Just like your car, the lacquer will discolor and corrode if you don't wash and wax it. Since brass is such a soft metal, it can start to deteriorate very quickly depending upon where you are, sometimes within forty-eight hours. Maintaining your nameplates, however, is relatively simple. First and foremost, keep all corrosives off your nameplates. Corrosives include, but are not limited to: sweat, saliva, salt, insecticides, soap, dirt, and all the interesting chemicals people insist on putting on leather equipment. And never, ever use an abrasive cleaner or polish on a lacquered brass surface. These include household cleaners like Comet and metal polishes like Brasso. Here's something that some people don't want you to hear - there are only three things you need to maintain any type of leather: glycerine saddle soap, oil, and wax. That's all you need, and all that should be used. Wood cleaners, multi-purpose cleaners and solvents should never be used on leather. "Proper" care of leather would be to clean it with saddle soap after every use, oil it once a week, and polish it several times a year. We all do that, don't we? At the very least, you should clean your leather when it gets dirty and oil it a few times each year. Polishing leather seems to be reserved only for riding boots and fine harnesses these days. No matter what you do, however, you can't leave any of these materials on your nameplates - they will corrode and discolor the lacquer. We can tell you what type of cleaner you've been using just by what color the lacquer has turned. So, after you have cleaned and conditioned your leather, and wiped residue off your plates, what do you do? You wipe off your brass plates with either dish soap and car wash, then you wax it. Use non-abrasive automotive wax, the same type you use on your car. It doesn't matter what type you use, but the better wax you get, the better it works. You can also use a neutral leather shoe polish. Apply it every time you clean your leather, or at least four times a year. Most of all, keep your plates dry. Nothing will destroy a lacquered brass finish like any type of liquid left standing on the surface, including water. When you receive your nameplates, they are not waxed. That should be one of the first things you do. Just as with your car, if you live in an area where there is high salt or pollution content in the air, you will have to clean and wax your plates more often. A little time and effort will keep your nameplates looking new for a long time. « Read less

Just like your car, the lacquer will discolor and corrode if you don't wash and wax it. Since brass is such a soft metal, it can start to deteriorate very quickly depending upon where you are, sometimes within forty-eight hours. Maintaining your nameplates, however, is relatively simple. First and foremost, keep all corrosives off your nameplates. Corrosives include, but are not limited to: sweat, saliva, salt, insecticides, soap, dirt, and all the interesting chemicals people insist on putting on leather equipment. And never, ever use an abrasive cleaner or polish on a lacquered brass surface. These include household cleaners like Comet and metal polishes like Brasso. Here's something that some people don't want you to hear - there are only three things you need to maintain any type of leather: glycerine saddle soap, oil, and wax. That's all you need, and all that should be used. Wood cleaners, multi-purpose cleaners and solvents should never be used on leather. "Proper" care of leather would be to clean it with saddle soap after every use, oil it once a week, and polish it several times a year. We all do that, don't we? At the very least, you should clean your leather when it gets dirty and oil it a few times each year. Polishing leather seems to be reserved only for riding boots and fine harnesses these days. No matter what you do, however, you can't leave any of these materials on your nameplates - they will corrode and discolor the lacquer. We can tell you what type of cleaner you've been using just by what color the lacquer has turned. So, after you have cleaned and conditioned your leather, and wiped residue off your plates, what do you do? You wipe off your brass plates with either dish soap and car wash, then you wax it. Use non-abrasive automotive wax, the same type you use on your car. It doesn't matter what type you use, but the better wax you get, the better it works. You can also use a neutral leather shoe polish. Apply it every time you clean your leather, or at least four times a year. Most of all keep your plates dry. Nothing will destroy a lacquered brass finish like any type of liquid left standing on the surface, including water. When you receive your nameplates, they are not waxed. That should be one of the first things you do. Just as with your car, if you live in an area where there is high salt or pollution content in the air, you will have to clean and wax your plates more often. A little time and effort will keep your nameplates looking new for a long time. « Read less

Excellent for use around pets, in the yard, kennel and garbage containers. Recommended for perimeter use. Instructions For Use : Pull up trap top by tab until snapped into position. Tear along perforation below zipper. Remove twist tie and plug; then reseal pouch leaving disposal zipper bag inside. Tie hanger through hole in tab at top of trap. Hang the trap outside in a sunlit area of high fly concentration where flies are active and where odors will not be a problem. Be sure to twist hanging tie ends together several times and fold over so trap hangs securely. For maximum effectiveness, trap should be within four feet of the ground. In hot weather (above 85 degrees F), the trap should be placed in a shaded area for optimal results. In cooler weather, place trap in a sunny location. NOTE : Trap is not recommended for indoor use or for use against biting flies. The Attractant tube is inside trap bag and must not be removed. Hold base of Attractant tube (within bag) tightly with thumb and forefinger, pointing tube downward. Twist tip of spout until it snaps, allowing Attractant to pour out into bag. NOTE : Hold trap upright so Attractant does not spill out of top. You may need to squeeze Attractant tube to force liquid out. Fill trap to ""fill line"" by pouring clean water through round hole in top of trap. Place plug in hole. NOTE : For best results, fill the trap while it is hanging. A small watering can is recommended to fill trap with water. Agitate lightly to disperse Attractant. Maintenance : Trap contents should be agitated at least twice weekly to thoroughly wet all trapped flies. Add water as necessary to keep the fluid level 1/2 inch below the surface of trapped flies. Do not allow the trap to dry out. Without adequate agitation, fly larvae (maggots) may appear as a layer of dry dead flies accumulates in the trap. If this should occur, add one teaspoon of liquid dish soap and enough water to wet all flies thoroughly. Maggots will drown in soapy water. When trap is full of dead flies, open zipper pouch at bottom of trap. Remove disposal zipper bag. Place disposal zipper bag over fly trap from bottom up. Zip closed. Then, while holding the disposal zipper bag firmly by the top, cut or untwist the hanger tie. Place bag in trash receptacle. Dead flies in trap may give off bad odor so care should be taken to keep trap contents from coming in contact with hands or clothing. Helpful Hints : In areas having exceptionally hard water, using distilled or purified water may improve trap performance. In areas of heavy fly populations, use several traps in different locations. Just like your car, the lacquer will discolor and corrode if you don't wash and wax it. Since brass is such a soft metal, it can start to deteriorate very quickly depending upon where you are, sometimes within forty-eight hours. Maintaining your nameplates, however, is relatively simple. First and foremost, keep all corrosives off your nameplates. Corrosives include, but are not limited to: sweat, saliva, salt, insecticides, soap, dirt, and all the interesting chemicals people insist on putting on leather equipment. And never, ever use an abrasive cleaner or polish on a lacquered brass surface. These include household cleaners like Comet and metal polishes like Brasso. Here's something that some people don't want you to hear - there are only three things you need to maintain any type of leather: glycerine saddle soap, oil, and wax. That's all you need, and all that should be used. Wood cleaners, multi-purpose cleaners and solvents should never be used on leather. "Proper" care of leather would be to clean it with saddle soap after every use, oil it once a week, and polish it several times a year. We all do that, don't we? At the very least, you should clean your leather when it gets dirty and oil it a few times each year. Polishing leather seems to be reserved only for riding boots and fine harnesses these days. No matter what you do, however, you can't leave any of these materials on your nameplates - they will corrode and discolor the lacquer. We can tell you what type of cleaner you've been using just by what color the lacquer has turned. So, after you have cleaned and conditioned your leather, and wiped residue off your plates, what do you do? You wipe off your brass plates with either dish soap and car wash, then you wax it. Use non-abrasive automotive wax, the same type you use on your car. It doesn't matter what type you use, but the better wax you get, the better it works. You can also use a neutral leather shoe polish. Apply it every time you clean your leather, or at least four times a year. Most of all, keep your plates dry. Nothing will destroy a lacquered brass finish like any type of liquid left standing on the surface, including water. When you receive your nameplates, they are not waxed. That should be one of the first things you do. Just as with your car, if you live in an area where there is high salt or pollution content in the air, you will have to clean and wax your plates more often.
